In case anyone is interested, I am nearing the completion of Tarfful. I have a facebook page with updates on it. It won't be as detailed as the blog I had during the making of Chewbacca, but it has some interesting tidbits. Questions are welcome.

Looks great, Ryan.

How did you do the braids/dread lockes? Do you just have some long hair punched in and gathered into a braid or were they built seperately (maybe around some rope or string) and attached later?

I glued a bunch of hair to some mesh, then riveted the mesh to the fiberglass underskull. It got a little bulky making the head more round than I would have wanted, but overall it worked fine.

The dreads are knotted, rolled, and waxed the same way you would make a "real" dread.

Looks GREAT!

What kind of wax did you use?

I was thinking of using like mustache wax or some other wax to mat the hair on my Chewie.

Thanks guys. My 'client' is driving up this weekend and I'll get some good photos of the whole costume so we can submit for membership.

I used pomade. I'm a fan of Got2B, but because of deadline I bought Murrays from the local Kroger. It's okay, but I bet there is something that will hold better.
