Very Happy

Fabric success today!

I found this light orange suede in the red tag section. It needs to be lightened up some, so if I can get it just a shade or two lighter, I'll be ecstatic.

I still just need to figure out what I want to make the coat out of.

Fabric sucess is always a good thing...

Very Happy
I know that people who don't sew just think that one can zip into a fabric store and find everything one needs...
NOT...

In my opinion...fabric searching is probably one of the worst parts of doing any project...

I had to go to a different county to find that. Shocked

And truthfully, I hate pattern altering more than fabric finding. Laughing

Would these be good goggles to use (the black ones)?

Wore my Naboo Pilot to a Legoland event on Sunday...
suffice it to say that the general public found the costume as exciting as wet paint...
most did not know the costume...and cared less...

Laughing

Heh heh, I know that feeling. Try wearing a B-wing pilot out in public and at smaller events. Most people will just ignore you. Razz

I found this linen/rayon fabric that just willed me to buy it for the outer jacket. I had originally wanted to go with a polyester/wool suiting, but that would have required a lot of $$ and a custom dye. This, I think, will do nicely.

I did finally get to the theater to see PM on the big screen yesterday and ...obviously..
was intent on seeing the back of the Pilot costume..
you are correct...
there are "tails" back there...
and..
what looked to be a "tab and button" thing...

You get a quick look at the back of one of the Pilots running to the fighters near the end of the movie when the pilots are freed and sent to their ships...

since I am a computer doofus and don't know how to do screen captures...can anyone try to do that? I figure I can still modify my outer coat to look a little better...

and...
Matt...
the event I wore the Naboo Pilot to was not a PM theater event...but it was worn on the Sunday of the first PM weekend...

I am thinking of trying to do a Naboo Pilot from AOTC for when that movie comes out in 3D...but...I have never worked with that vinyl/rubbery looking stuff that those pilots had.
But the rest of the costume is pretty tame...so it might be worth a shot.
