Great suggestion about the gun coat. I will look into that when I replace the resin sometime down the road. Smile

ok, I really had to look at that for a minute; at first it looked like your buckles were larger than your feet!

What kind of metal is that, and how strong/thick/whatever is it?

I guessing the metal is some sort of steel. The Thicker piece has a hardened top coat on it as well.

I started off using a Hack saw but after that got old, I got brave & jumped on a band saw. After the rough cuts I used a grinder wheel to smooth & generally shape the parts. Then finally I took a hand file to each part for the finished product.

Now this stuff wont stop a bullet, but I have a feeling these buckles will easily out live me...

Hopefully this will give you guys an idea how thick the metal plates are.

that's new castle bottle cap for ref.

Well, if it's steel, it should be magnetic.
I really have to scrounge some metal like that for my own buckles.
And my sister's EE-3.
All I have is this thin steel from my old PC casing.

You might try going to an autobody place and see if you can get a small piece of scrap.

Yup, I started with a standard tandy leather 2" belt blank. When I started my buckle design, it was based around the idea of a 2" belt.

I forgot to dye before I started stitching, so we will see how it turns out.

I found them via ebay. who ever was selling them I believe was also casting them, but I dont know for sure. However in truth, I am already planning to upgrade them with machined parts. Just more sturdy.

Alright update time! I stopped working on my current belt & decided to start over. I wasn't happy with how things were going & not to mention I forgot to dye any of the orginal pieces before starting. So I started over with extra material from the over kill I had originally purchased. Since then, I have pretty much completed my belt & holster. And I am currently finishing the tool sets with a final coat of paint a sealer. I have a evolution props droid caller & a Elvis trooper disk en route as this is being written.

First attempt

Starting over

Late night shoot before leather conditioner

And done

Ok guys what do you think, beside the missing mentioned above. The leather is a little dark in the picture since I just applied a leather conditioner & sealer as the build final step. Everyone who has seen it has been super impressed, but most importantly should this build be passable?
