For those who might wonder what this board is for, a (very) brief history.

I emailed Crystal with the idea to have a sub board set up for the discussion of large scale set piece builds that have been made as unit builds. For example, I believe our Aussie brothers and sisters recently constructed a cantina set piece for photos with the fans at a local convention. Thumbs up

This place is for talking about build projects like this, some of the smaller vehicles, or even larger scale puppets/models like a Jabba The Hutt build. A place to share info regarding what materials are used, where to source them, and perhaps most importantly any plans or schematics that have been drawn up that could be used by other units planing to do similar builds of their own.

Someone needs to alert Duck and the rest of Alderaan Base about the existence of this forum. His crew has built the Landspeeder, a Dewback, and an Ewok village.

Yeah, some "technical readouts" on how to replicate those kind of props would be greatly appreciated!

An even better question is finding out how/where they store all of that stuff. A well-built vehicle can be very useful for local conventions, outdoor events, parades, etc.
But the No. 1 problem that comes up whenever my local Base/Garrison talks about building a vehicle is "where do you store it when it's done?" The last thing you want to do is put in all this time and effort building something cool only to have it fall apart in a few months time because of weather, insects, animals, etc.

Jabba comes apart and fits in a minivan. I wasn't there to set him up or take him apart, and I'm no good at building things, but I helped carry him to the car (ok one piece but still I saw him fit!)

Let me know as you guys start posting things, how you would like to see the forum organized.

A forum for each set prop type, IE A forum for the X-Wing. Then in there would have everyones builds and tutorials and photos. Then a forum for a Cantina set, etc.

Once the thread gets active and we see what the need is , we can move stuff around a little.
