Hey Rebels,
can anyone tell me if this would be an acceptable light saber for a Jedi costume?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110673998573

Immediate response would be appreciated as auction is over Monday night.
Thanks!!

To be honest I have 2 of these; however, I do not use them in my character. It is nothing against MR but that set was really not all that great, and personally wish they used more metal metal in them.

I will ask the costume Judge though to see if they would be approved or not and get back with you.

If you want a good quality saber that will be used and cheap I suggest to go to this website.

Hey Brian,

Good price on that right now.
I know the standards do not allow 'toy' lightsabers. I wouldn't consider that a toy but Alex can confirm if the fx construction kits are ok or not.

Also don't forget that you can build your own saber with a trip to the hardware store:

I just got word from the leader of the Knights of the Jedi Order Detachment, and he siad it will be fine as long as you use the blue or green side of the light saber.

hope this helps. If we can help anymore please let us know.

Take care,

I personally am not a fan of the MR construction kit; some of us @ fx-sabers.com not-so-lovingly refer to as the "Joe Jedi".

If you do decide to move forward with that product, I can offer you a solution to the plastic-y and toy-ish look of that saber. Consider using chrome tape... {you might have to signed-on as an fx-sabers.com forum member to to view this link below}.

Thanks for your help guys!! As of now the bid is up to $55 which is now out of my price range. I'm either going to go with the ultra saber, or possibly the hardware store route I think. Do you only need a hilt to meet the costume guidelines? Or does it have to have a blade also?

A blade is not required.

If I remember right for let me look on the guide lines a light saber or a hilt is not required, but a Jedi to me is not a Jedi without a light saber.

I know there are plans out there for a hilt for only $35.00. I will look for that too for you.

Better than I could do. Impressive for a First? attempt. Is that a foam grip though? If it is you might want to change it...it just kind of lacks that "Star Wars-y" look.
