Hello everybody I'm new here and in the process of starting my Han ESB build. I'm actually thinking about casting his buckles myself and was wondering if somebody might be able to do me a favor and either trace their buckles for me so I can take some measurements or if somebody would be willing to measure theirs for me. I have a couple ideas on how to go about this but I need the size first. Thank you very much

Been real busy as of late, but when I get a chance I will throw my buckles measurements up... however... I eyeballed it. So you would end up with a copy of something you could eyeball as well. Mine are not perfect either.

I might even be able to eyeball them myself too. Did you purchase your belt or did you make it? If so what size leather did you use? Maybe thinking to much here but I'm almost wondering if I can blow up the reference pics so that the belt is the same size as the ones that everybody makes. Then I could use the picture of the blown up to accurate size buckles to use as a template to make mine as close to screen accurate as possible

My belt is all scratch built.. total cost... 65$ The buckle is solid 1/8 steel welded and braised to heavy... heavy duty use. When it gets tarnished I just use a steel whool pad and clean it up, or pollish. I tend to go with a bit more worn look though. Lately I have been trooping as chewie though.

The belt is 2 inches wide.
The main ANH front buckle is 2-3/4 inch tall, and 3-3/4 inches wide at its widest point... 2-3/4 inch at its shortest width

The back buckle I made a bit bigger at 4 inches wide. 2-3/4 inches tall at its peak.. and 2-1/4 inches tall at its shortest height.

Not bad for 65$ hey? Smile

Hope that helps

So I've been looking at some more reference pictures and maybe I'm wrong but are the ANH and ESB buckles the same just with the locations reversed on the belt?

That is correct!

The ANH and ESB have the buckles flipped front to back, and back to front. ROTJ has the same buckle front and back... the same front and back buckle as the ANH front buckle.

So technically if you design your buckle system to be reversable you only need 3 buckles to cover all three movies.

Ok my buckle templates are almost made and I'm getting ready to order my leather. Blaster conversion starts next month so I will build the holster then too. For the pants will these bloodstripes work? http://cgi.ebay.com/Han-Solo-Bloodstripes-iron-on-stripes-costume-prop-Yell-/250233310746?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a43114e1a#ht_500wt_950

They are iron-on so I'm not sure they will be up to RL standards.

the iron-on stripes ARE the correct size and shape, but they are not embroidered.

you can find embroidered stripes here

I have used those stripes and I highly recommend them.

You guys have been great and I appreciate your responses and advice. Pants are on order and I will post pictures when I get them modified. Jacket is going to be a bit longer as I'm looking to go charcoal grey and have just not found the correct fabric yet

Anybody know anything about these boots? I know the standards say leather or leather look so didn't know if these would pass.

I sure hope they pass! They're the pair I'm going use! That panel of elastic in the back is a lifesaver for anyone with normal sized calves. lol!

you'd pick up a leather pair of riding boots on ebay, probably for the same price.
