My name is Brian Auton. I'm thinking of joining the Rebel Legion soon. I live in Northern Kentucky just south of Cincinnati. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on here. I have a Jedi costume and belt, and now I'm working on finding some boots and a saber hilt. If anyone has any good ideas on where to get these, that would be great.

Hey Brian,

Welcome to the Corellian Base.
Feel free to come out to an event anytime and introduce yourself, a costume is not needed- you can just hang out and get to know us.
Browse through the Jedi forum here for costume resources

try e bay for the pouches

The boots are the most expensive item one will need for the Jedi costume you can spend lots of money on this this item. You can spend anywhere from $45.00 to $300.00

let me know if I can help anyway.

Do you have a website that I can check out that lists upcoming events? I saw the 501st is having an event in Boone County, Ky this month. Is anyone here going to be there for that one?

Hmmm...I don't see anything on our list for that area for March. I may be forgetting something. Do you know what kind of event it is?

It's at the Boone County Library. I saw it on the 501st calender page.
Also, where can I find this list that you speak of?

Aahhh...I see. On a hunch I checked out the 501st Ohio Garrison website and I see it listed over there. Kentucky and Tennessee are the 501st MidSouth Garrison. Why the Ohio Garrison is coordinating this event I'm not sure. I would suspect they have a higher population of troopers there or maybe the library system has worked with them in the past. Or it may be just one of those things that slipped through the cracks. Kinda like how "Cincinnati" airport is actually in Kentucky lol. But it's all good, no turf or border wars here. Sorry for the confusion though.

FYI Midsouth Garrison forums are here...
http://www.midsouthgarrison.com/forums/
A lot of us are dual Rebel Legion/501st members and we work together very well in this area.

The Rebel Base for Ohio is the Great Lakes Base
http://greatlakesbase.com/
You might want to get friendly with them (and the Ohio Garrison) as well since you may find it easier to meet up with them sometimes. I have the same thing going on...living in Louisville I'm actually closer to some trooping opportunities in Indiana than I am to Tennessee.

As for an upcoming events list we have an area in the full members area where we discuss potential events. Sometimes attendance is a bit...fluid?...and we can't always make every requested event so I think we may have been a little hesitant to advertise our appearance in case it falls apart. I think we probably should post upcoming events we're more certain of...like conventions and such...so potential members like yourself can find us. We have done this in the past and maybe just fell out of the habit. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and we'll definitely be discussing it.

Again sorry for the confusion.

Great, thanks for your reply. When checking out membership options I was confused as to which Base would work for me as I'm right there on the border. Do you normally join the Base you are supposed to be in geographically?

Hello there. The boone County people got ahold of the Ohio Garrison's southern event coordinator about it. Ohh, my name is Brian Pauley and I am the Ohio South Captain for the Great Lakes Base and the Central/Primary Events Coordiantor of the Ohio Garrison. We do not have a lot of rebels in southern Ohio so check out the great lakes base site for some. I would like to get down and troop with you guys sometime since i am only just over an hour away. is there an events page I can see for you guys' base?

Thanks for checking in Briankenobi. As a full member you should be able to see the Corellian Events at the top of the page. But like I was telling Bauton we really don't have anything coming up in that area. There is the Star Wars VBS in Covington in July that's already been posted over on the Great Lakes section on the main boards here.

Yes, your "Home Base" is geographic but you're not restricted to events just in that area. As I said I sometimes go over to Indiana and I just did an event in Virginia. And the bigger the event...like DragonCon...the larger an area rebels will come from.

Thanks for the welcome and the info!
In the effort of full disclosure, I am involved in the star wars VBS you mentioned. But don't get me wrong, that's not the main reason I'm on here. My brother has been a member of the 501st in South Carolina for over a year and I've seen first hand all the fun and excitement he has had participating in their functions. I've looked on in envy on his activities.

I am actually writing this vbs myself to not only bring the world of star wars in a different way to the local kids, but also to use something they are familiar with (star wars) to bring them closer to God.

It also was a good excuse for me to finally convince my wife to let me spend some money to start buying a Jedi costume!! Laughing to wear during the vbs. But then afterwords, I do plan on staying with the Legion as a fully participating member.
