I am having a really hard time finding boots and I was wondering where you guys got yours? They are for my TPM Padme (the battle outfit) and I'm just looking for plain black ones, but I can't seem to find many in my size. I've been checking ebay and amazon, and a few other places, but no luck so far.

size 11. That's the other reason why it's so hard.

I have small, wide feet, and the same problem.

Have you tried Nordstrom Rack? They tend to have a random, eclectic assortment of shoes, but sometimes carry the harder-to-find sizes.

That's not bad. As long as it's not a high heel since I am about 5'9'' to begin with.

I was wondering what you guys thought of these? I have the same pair in brown for my jedi costume, and was wondering if these might work for my padme costume? Trying to find some other ones, but am having a tough time. Went to 3-4 stores last week and couldn't find any 11s that I thought would work. Sad

In my opinion, I would never spend money on boots that are not leather. They might seem to be a cheap alternative, but most of the time they are just cheap. I have never seen a pair of them last more than a few months. Keep looking and be patient, it will pay off.

Those boots are hit or miss. I bought a pair in 2005 and I just NOW retired them, 5.5 years later. They were held together by duct tape and superglue for the last year, but they are the most comfortable boots I have ever had in my entire life.

HOWEVER, I do know people who bought a pair of those and they fell apart after 2 months.

Very Happy Thanks for posting that ebay link! i've been having a hard time finding boots myself! I wonder what material they are made out of. I don't want to get one's that will wear down with in 2 year limit.

I agree with Shane, if you can, spend a bit extra for real leather. They hold up MUCH better. With fake leather, you're pretty much throwing your money away. Unless you only plan to wear the costume once or twice.

Leather = WIN
Vinyl will crack and split eventually, some sooner than others, depending on how well you keep your stuff and how well it was made, etc.
My Juno boots are real leather thank god, but my arena padme boots are fake leather, and i will probably have to pay the piper in the long run because of it, but, it was all i could find at the time, but that will definitely be upgraded whenever i can get around to doing it in the future.
My slave leia boots are also real leather, and thank god for that, i never want to make those boots again, haha Razz

I also support real leather. I bought a pair of boots for a costume that were vinyl pull on boots (NEVER a good idea for vinyl) and they started cracking after only three wears. I've had a pair of leather "riding" boots however, that lasted for years. I would probably still have them if I had gotten them repaired when the sole started coming off. Leather really is better in terms of staying power.

The sole will wear out before the leather on the boot will! If you find a shoe repair place, they can replace a sole fairly easily.
