So, I had research lined up to do Senator Chuchi from Trespass, but then I fell in love with this outfit from Sphere of Influence.

I have little experience with fabric, so I thought I would ask the experts.

1. What would you call this color? Mauve? Maroon? Plum?
2. What sort of fabric is this? What should I be looking for?

I'd really like to get this accepted as formal, even though there are no standards written for Chuchi yet.

That's the thing with CW, no one really knows for sure what type of fabric! I'd just go to the fabric store and look for a fabric that looks like what you see on screen.

I'm not an expert, but it looks to have a sort of velvety/suede texture to the fabric, or perhaps a thicker less-shiney silk-like blouse material? The one where she's next to George and his daughter throw me off of saying anything for sure, but those would be my suggestions. Is that a design on the rear left side of her skirt, or odd lighting?

That is a design on her skirt. I have other screen shots with detailing. I am hoping I can recreate that with embroidery rather than etching. I guess it will depend on what sort of fabric I go with. Guess what stores I will be visiting this weekend Mr. Green

my $0.02 is that the color is more wine or burgundy rather than plum, maroon would be close but you might do better searching for wine or burgundy. The costume does look like it could be slightly textured so try looking at ultra suede or even sueded faux leather or maybe even a low pile velveteen (something none shiny of course) the faux leather would also give you the body to get the collar to sit right and at the same time have just the right amount of drape. you could try ordering samples from some places that deal in faux leather so you can test it.

Whatever color it is, I wish you luck with the project! Smile

According to my GIMP color pipette, the color is:

2nd pic
3rd pic

I'd go for a suede look, personally. Just as long as it has some texture and isn't just plain cotton. Wink

Hey Jackie, I was wondering if you have shots of the Trespass outfit that I might not have yet, I'm starting the design for that one and so far I've got good shots of everything but the back of her cloak and the back of the greaves.
If you have anything to share for that one, I'd appreciate it, I'm hoping to be able to get the Trespass outfit in for formal Smile
