those look exactly like the boots I ended up getting, description is the same, only for half what I paid. So...Good deal indeed.
I can tell you that the top of the boots are slanted, but Bob mentioned to me (though I still have yet to do so) that I can just take them to a leather boot maker and they would be able to level the top off. I don't recall the height of the shaft, but I am about 5' 10" and they hit just below my knee by about an inch.

Just below the knee is awesome. Spent some time a while back doing research and the evidence shows the boots just bellow the knee by a few inches. So anything that is higher than the thickest part of you calf and below the knee will do.

Greetings fellow scoundrels,

I am new to the forum, and this is my first post. I wanted to pass along some info regarding the boots available through frontofrussia.com. The measurements I got from Alex are the boots are 18-19" high, (floor to top of boot) and from 15.7"-16.5" around the calf. The 33B version is good, but the 8B version is also really good. The overall price for either one is well under $100.00 dollars, so they are both a fairly good deal. Both are the correct size, full leather, and have no zippers, perfect for formal approval. I have contacted Alex through e-mail, and will be purchasing boots from him. Once the boots arrive, I will post an opinion of the the overall transaction. I hope this will benefit both current and future Solos. May the Force be with you all in your pursuit of the Ultimate Solo.

Best Regards,

Brian

The only thing you need to be careful of is that you need to give very specific and very detailed instructions about what boots you want. The dude is literally rummaging through a giant warehouse. He can find you what you want, but you have to be specific.

Greetings All,

I received my boots from frontofrussia.com this weekend, so, as promised, here is my review:

Cost- Total cost was about $75.00 including shipping and Western Union fees, so the price was definitely right. I ordered the 8B, as it was the only one that came in my shoe size. (13).

Communication- Excellent. Alex answered my e-mails promptly, and notified me when the boots shipped, along with tracking number.

Shipping- I received them 10 days later.

The Boots- Thanks to SoloYT1300 for posting great photos. The boots are 100% leather, with no zippers. Structurally, they look almost identical to the originals. They even have the seam up the back that is visible in the photo, only on my boots, the seam runs all the way down to the heel, where in the photo, it only seems to run the length of the shaft.

They are 17" from floor to the top of the shaft. For me, (6' 4") they are about 2"-3" below the knee. This may seem a bit short for the ANH boot, but in the photo posted of Harrison and Carrie from ESB, the boot clearly appears to be about 2"-3" below the knee. They fit around my calf as if they were made for me.

Overall, I couldn't be happier, and I would definitely recommend these as a viable option for Solo boots. One caution: these are not new, uncirculated boots. They definitely have wear on them, but for me, I like that. Han has been "from one side of the galaxy to another," so his boots should look a bit worn.

Hopefully, this will be of some help to others. If there are any specific questions, feel free to PM me, or post and will reply.

May the Force be with you,

Brian

Ditto! Especially if they could pull double duty for my Imp Officer!

Hi Guys,

Please forgive my late response to this post. I haven't checked in on this since my last response. For those who may be "on the fence," here are some pics:

And here are the backs:

Mark, I'm not sure if these could be used for an Imperial Officer, because they are quite worn, and they are not "hard" leather, so I'm not sure if they could be shined up enough to look correct for an Imperial Officer.

I think they do look good for Han however, because they should look worn in for him. The details on the "tongue" or "heel" of the boot, (whichever is correct) looks fairly accurate. Also, the seam in the back looks fairly accurate to the photos that Bob posted previously.

In any case, these are far better than a pair of pleather boots with a zipper on the inside calf, for roughly the same money.

When looking for boots, I would definitely suggest considering Alex at frontofrussia.com. They may not be perfect, but they are pretty darn close. I hope this helps.

May the Force be with you,

Brian

Hey guys, just wanted to follow up on this thread.

I ended up getting a pair of the Russian Officer riding boots. I am really happy with them. They are not new, but they are not in horrible shape either. They have just the perfect amount of wear to add some character. The height is good with the highest point ending about an inch and a half from the middle of my kneecap. That will shorten a little bit since I haven't had the top flattened out yet. That is the next thing to be done. Anyway, here are a couple pictures of them:
