I won't know until closer to time. Randy is starting rotations at the pharmacies and he may have some Sats. We'll find out next week when school starts back. (Everyone give a shout-out to Randy who made an A this quarter in pharmacology. Very Happy ) With the price of gas, it is also an issue as well as being awfully tiring to ride up 4 hrs, party, and ride back.
Like Chris, I wish it was in the middle of the state. Then everyone shares equally.

Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that dates/times and location may not be ideal for all members, so we have to reach a compromise some where. If we need to have two socials at different times and geographical locations, them that might be our best option.

I think Stone Mountain would be a great location for a social event. I'd like to see the Garrison invited to it, too Wink

Well, as it seems the date and location have already been decided, then its time to post a header with those attending and their number of guests so there can be a proper headcount.
Also, its now time for the other info.
Where do we meet in the park and at what time?
Everyone needs to be reminded to pay for parking and to bring chairs.
Are we cooking? Or, eating at the place in the park? The food there is good, but we'll need a head count.
Who's bringing what if we grill?
And, are we going to see any of the sites together as a group? Prices can be cheaper that way. Or, just sit in front of the mountian, chilling and grilling?
I'd still like to see a middle Ga event too, and hope everyone would travel here too. Maybe like a yearly thing - Stone Mtn in the Spring, Middle Ga in the fall.

How does noon sound to everyone?

I'm thinking we can try to get one of the covered picnic tables. There are about 2 or 3 together near the Grist Mill, and they have BBQ pits. I can, or one of us should go there early and secure the picnic tables. We can reserve a pavilion, but I'm not sure how much they are, I will have to find that out (if we want to go that route). There is an $8 parking fee to get into the park also (unless you have a parking pass).

If anyone wants to go down to the Stone Mtn. Village, that's an extra cost. For now, I'm just organizing the picnic part..... the rest are up to you guys. I may go to the Village, but for now, I'm content with just chillin' out....playing some frisbee....tossing the old football, or possibly walking the trails.

Yeah, since it blewup from a little picnic to a mixer, group rating will be cheaper to go to the village. I'm sure kids will want go at some point.

Not interested in the village. . . . not sure how many folks will be bringing children, so those interested will have to organize that on their own.

Should we cross-post this on the Mando boards?

So, April 9th or 10th at noon. I'll be sure to tell Leland so he can schedule his graduate studies around it, so he can attend and meet everyone Wink I'm sure Carey will want to know the same for Steven.

Sunday, April 10
Stone Mountain Park
12:00pm- until ?

Shooting for the picnic area near the Grist Mill. There are several other picnic areas, but this is the most scenic. The picnic tables are first-come-first-serve, so we need a volunteer (point of contact) to secure picnic tables for all of us, and to be the POC so we can call and make sure where we are supposed to meet up.

Here's the plan:
Secure picnic table (do it early to get good ones)
Notify attendees where the picnic spot will be
Start grilling food/setting up picnic tables
Attendees call POC for exact location of event
Eat, drink, and be merry

Let's get a headcount of how many people are planning on attending so we can prepare enough food. Any volunteers to man the grill? And let's get a list of who will be bringing what to the picnic.

Example:
Daphne: Wookiee Cookies and hamburger patties

Well, I just got my work schedule yesterday and it looks like I have to be back in Orlando on the 11th, so I'm out. Sad
