I started this build thread for self motivation and a place to ask questions. With a little luck I may be able to complete it this year.

I started slowly gathering items a few years ago. This is what I have to start with so far. I bought a replica ANH15 Cap and then decided I wanted to use a real one. Its smaller then the replica but it will work. I first bought a set of gaiters and then a donut kit. Recently I bought a one piece donut. I also have a pattern for the vest.

I need to figure out how to add the 2 leather pieces to the cap where the snaps are. I am not sure how that works. Do you cover up the existing snaps with a piece of leather with new snaps on top? I wonder how they did it with the movie props. Any ideas?

Nice! Keep up the good work, bro. I've received some cool compliments on mine. Wink

The 2 sets of 4 snaps aren't covered by the leather, only the snap and buckle for the leather strap are.

For mine, I just got a scrap of brown leather from my local Tandy, made a pattern slightly larger than that part of the helmet that is the sort of triangular piece below the snaps and extends below the fabric pieces. I just glued those pieces to the helmet (just at the top) with some Household Goop type cement.

I found a good screen cap where you can clearly see the leather piece on the side of Leia's helmet:

Jim still has the resin conversion kits available to dress up an airsoft AR-15 at www.tk570.com

I have uploaded another ANH-15 pattern to the Yahoo endorbunker files area. By adding a 1/2" to the center seams, it even fit my 7 3/4" noggin' Laughing

looking good...
and..
there is really a LOT to the Endor Commando costume....I know when I first started mine many years ago I was a bit overwhealmed...
I started by compiling a list of all I needed and needed to make/sew and my eyes nearly bugged out of my head..
but one by one I went down the list and it was a great feeling of accomplishment to scratch items off the list as done..

I did the same with the Hoth Trench Trooper...

there are a LOT of elements to these costumes...

so...
carry on...
you are off to a great start!

It took me 7 years to get my Endor trooper done. The most difficult parts for me were the soft parts: gaiters, soft cap, donut and vest. You have the gaiters, soft cap & donut already, and that is a huge plus. If you need a vest done for you, talk to Gray Jedi or Mountain Princess. Or if you can sew, use the pattern you got.

The pants are a cakewalk --get a pait of khaki cargos and paint from Michaels. Pouches are surplus items, really pretty easy to get, and fortunately, some variations are allowed. The t-shirt is cake to order and get.

For blasters, in a pinch, you can do an E-11. Otherwise, there are now at least 2 sources for the Endor Trooper blaster.

So you're well on your way to getting it done. Have fun painting the resin bits, doing the bandoleer and such, and keep plugging away. You'll be done in no time, and enjoying a very fun --and comfortable costume.

Don't ask Grey Jedi; she can't do sewing commissions anymore due to early arthritis. Sad
