I did O.D., I did. Nice attention to details. You're starting to make me want to turn in my Y-wing for an A-wing. Blasphemy! Laughing

Yesterday my X-wing helmet kit arrived, so I´ll have to spend some time on my working table.

And I just remembered: Rolling Eyes
Quote:
I did notice that you didn't put on the brown lining around the front "arms". Not really a big issue, but that is something I noticed that seems to be missing.

So I plan to work on both helmets and to finaly finish the A-wing thing... Razz

I think of using some (dark) brown feux leather for the lining.
Any other ideas ?

(Oh, I´m not changing to the orange fraction! I just love the classical pilot helmet design. And I want to do it for double use: Pilot AND Jedi training helmet.)

Well, someone asked me to send in my A-Wing costume for the RL calender...
So, after I had a closer look into the Star Wars character encyclopedia I knew I had to....pimp my costume! (I hope to use this word correct now!)

First thing is this:

Better to see here...now you know what it will be, right?

I know, this is still not 100% accurate, but thats the only way I can make it. The original is much more rounded and looks like a ...?

Pics of progress will follow...

For comparison:
The old version...

And here the new parts (WIP):

The gray foam tube will be covered with white cloth, all parts will be kept in place with the white velcro in the middle.
Though it´s still not 100%, it´s a lot better than the old version imo...

When this is finished I´ll do a complete re-paint of my helmet (if theres some time left for it before submitting the new costume pics...)

So, thats how it came out:

Like the rest of the costume the new parts got some weathering. I hate new looking parts!

After "updating" the bottle system I decided to repaint my helmet and give it a more movie acurate design. As there are now rebel symbols seen on the movie props I spared them, too...

As you can see, I´m no perfectionist and do the painting only by hand, but I like it that way...
Only thing still missing is the helmet pading...

Today evening I´ll make some pics of the complete costume...maybe someone would like it for the RL calendar?
