Ok, I know somewhere a while back I ran across a picture of an X-wing helmet that was built with the breather in place, before they ditched it due to actor visibility concerns. Anyone know what I am talking about? Have a link or photo of it?

I've never seen any behind the scenes pics of one (I never looked for them either, they could be out there) I do know they did an action figure with the mask on the helmet.

It was a prototype photo (or at least looked awfully convincing) of one mocked up with the breather, though it wasn't painted in any fashion.

To be honest, I didn't think it looked all that good. It looked like they were trying to get it low enough that you could still see the actors faces, even with the breather on.

Yeah, that's it. I forgot to look there, as I tend to associate his site with Imperial Helmets. Guess since I had spent so much time there getting info for my AT-AT pilot Smile

It kind of reminds me of the helmet in Star Wars Galaxies. The X-Wing helmet has a mask as well, though it also completely covers the face... And it's ugly as sin. Razz

There's a Luke figure with that type of helmet from the Luke/Mara Jade Comic Pack

Very cool Frank, the visors on those pics match the larger visors on this pic from StarWarsHelmets.com. They're kind of insectoid-looking. I'm glad they cut them down for the final version.

I kid you not... I only remember this cause I recently came across my old set of cards.

Topps did a set of trading cards in 1997 of Star Wars Vehicles... card #6 was of a Z-95 Headhunter where the pilot (female = Mara Jade from scene from the book "Last Command"?) wearing X-Wing style helmet with breather in place.

There's a pic of the trading card in this ebay auction

And here's the archived picture for when the auction ends.

I always wondered how the Rebel Pilots survive the vacuum of space during an ejection? I think I read in one of the X-Wing books that they have a magnetic containment field that holds atmosphere for them somehow? I mean, for the pilots that don't have a breather...

Well.. I'd imagine they would be screwed unless they're Luxon.

It's possible that all pilots have a breather of some sort. X-Wing pilots seems to have one... and Nien Nunb had one with his B-Wing helmet, so it's possible a similar breather could have been used for other B-Wing pilots as well.
For Y-Wing pilots (RotJ) it seems plausible that the helmet would just seal off, as the helmet is fairly enclosed anyway. And for A-Wing pilots I could see a breather similar to Nien Nunb's.

Though yeah, I also remember reading about the enclosed containment field that somehow surrounded the pilot's face, and that the seals around the flightsuit closed to become airtight.
It always sounded a bit weird to me that some "magical bubble" would suddenly "poof" around the pilot to protect them... But, well, whatever... Razz
