Thanks, Vera. It took me a while to get the "groove" back, but I'm glad to finally be finishing this up. Did you ever get the beaded clasps done on yours?

Thank-you, Lora. I'm getting excited about finally having this dress finished! I sure hope I can have it 100% soon!

Nope, put this away and haven't touched it since. But since I have access to embroidery machines now, once I learn to digitize I hope to make the shawl fabric and re-bead the neck, I don't like how sloppy it came out.

Would love to see your improvements if/when you do them, Vera.

I've gotten the bodice beading done and now I've started on the skirt beading. I decided to bead it onto a piece of trim similar to the original. It is taking me FOREVER!! Razz

I still have to bead the trim on the front of the skirt, but I got to wear this to a charity event this past Saturday, woohoo! After my first troop in it, there are a couple tweeks I'll make. In one of the front view pictures, you can see the yellow collar isn't tucked in properly (thanks for noticing, hubby!Rolling Eyes) Also, in the back view picture, one of the shoulder drape pieces has turned inside out. Overall, not too bad for not having a mirror even when doing my hair, except for a tiny hand held thing.

Looks great! Smile

I recommend reinforcing the lower, say, 4-6 inches of the skirt with a curved layer of felt or quilt padding from the hem inside . That will prevent the hoop skirts from pressing through.
Actually you can use iron-on quilt padding to do that - that way, you won't even need to sew it in. I've done the same on my Breha skirt.

The lower part of the front skirt is part of the "tweeks" I was referring to, although it already has a lining of felt and a poly/cotton layer after that. I have some pre-quilted fabric I plan to use under it.

It looks wonderful and I hope your charity event went well. I'm even more impressed that you were able to get ready without much of a mirror!

Thank-you, Raychel. Our charity event helped raise over $6,000 for the Grand Rapids Griffins' Youth Foundation, so it went VERY well!

Vera, thanks! I had moments where I wanted to throw the hair extensions across the room, but I finally made up a watery solution of tacky glue and that worked well.
