It's looking so good. About the paint. Blue Banshee Leader is correct it is two tone. Hazard3 and I worked through several paint schemes to come up with a paint scheme that works. If you look at the knob which is white, the rest of the box is gray/silver. I used a coat of Model Master white primer followed by Model Master Stainless Steel (#1452) for the chestbox as a whole and the smaller boxes are painted with Model Master Titanium (#1454). Both of these are buffing metalizer's (you can buff them to a mirror), which I did not do. The two buttons on the right side above the black area I used Model Master Gunship Gray (#1923). I then sprayed the whole thing with Model Master Metalizer Sealer (#1459) to keep the paint from coming off.

It is looking awesome! Way better than I could ever do. I too (along with Blue Banshee Leader) would love to get a copy of that!

Excellent Job!

Eh, I wanted to apologize if I sounded a little rude in my previous post. That wasn't my intention.
I was thinking about it lastnight and felt a little bad for it. I don't mean to sound rude or anything. I guess it's just that the B-wing and B-wing pilot are one of my passions and I sometimes tend to get a little... overzealous about them.

Ok good stuff,

The paint hadn't crossed my mind yet really. 14 pages of testors paint sample circles to look at. Shocked I think I would like it to be close to the upper right and lower left images on Alex post three back. Like a really really light grey base almost white, two tone an average grey. The left side rectangle and the hose connector field a tone close to the two tone but a hair lighter. Trench flat black along with the large lower area around the gloss white upper knob. Flat black inside the two smaller upper knobs, knobs being gloss black. Inside the upper trench, a clear window (plexiglass or something yet to be figured out) under that a crimson reddish paint. Far left greeble a rocker toggle maybe gloss black outer rim, dark dark red switch(like it has red light if on, but is off). Two small boxes slightly darker grey then the field they sit in. Looks as if the upper one is a shade darker then the lower no? Above that the black gloss line in the lower step. Above that the two greeble areas, the grey used on the two tone or upper small box(if they become different shades). Lower greeble would be a 4-6 hole female plug like a power plug on a basic computer power supply, gloss black. Upper greeble like a flat black female 20ish hole piece, probably custom make that to fit, whatever count it turns out to be. Thats it in a large wordy nut shell.

If there are some other paint colors anyone has used or didn't let me know so I can add them to the mix. I'd like to stay in the family of flat paint. Looking at the testors military paints for that reason.

I would like to get a few made for trade of other goods/services or republic credits would do nicely. Couple months out at the soonest. Trying not to get ahead of myself. Confused

Forgot to mention the height on the left side is about a 1/8 inch higher then the center. I might add like another 1/4 inch at most, it would make the over all height closer to 10 then the "about 9x9" goal of the original. Another trick would be to round the top edge of the center more, giving the illusion it is shorter and the left being higher.

Small update:

Added detail to my Helmet

Some greebles I will resin, others will be on hand items, plus 2 decals.

Form split in 4 to vacuum easier, took some doing. This is the left...

...center...

...right (some still bondo'd)...

...and back. (still heavy bondo to remove)

Got a start on my girlfriends A-wing box too.

Also picked, ordered, and received my paint for the B-wing box.

Still looking to finish my 2 nerf DH-17s (sand bondo and paint) and a helmet kit to finish up our his and her RFTs.

Both chestboxes are looking awesome. Very nice work on them!

And dude, I so want to buy one of your B-wing chestboxes. I'd even buy an A-wing one. Cool

It has been a good long while since I have worked on this. I had an issue with one of the box molds, it got damaged so I shelved it for a while. Good news is I have my RFT done and registered and my girlfriends done and registered too.

I am not totally happy being a perfectionist with this as a kit but for my needs it will pass with some extra work. I figured I would show my latest pulls on the chest box.

Left and Center Pull

Front Right Side Pull

Back Plate Pull

Trimmed and Ready for glue

Not sure if the minor issues are just a pull issue, as in me not knowing what I am doing 100% yet, or a mold issue doomed to fail. For those out there into modeling/building props it would be fine as a raw pull kit but I am not sure if I want to trim/build/paint one for every Bwinger/future Bwinger out thier.

..next up glue...

Thoughts? Ideas?

Nice. The chestbox looks like it came out pretty darn well to me. Smile

As for possible customers... I doubt anyone would expect you to paint it or put it together. Trimming it would probably be nice and probably preferable, but even that probably isn't completely needed.

Little work to share. First let me say I am the worse plastic trimmer in the galaxy. So unfortunatly I had to do the bondo thing after, which honestly to get it seemless I don't see any choice.
Glued...starting with assembly strips/edges.

Bondo...
