Ok...
I was thinking (always a dangerous thing)...
we have seen some of the RL Bases and Garrisons build some REALLY nice things for conventions...
and...
hey...
we got some talent around here...

I thought that maybe we could consider doing an Endor build for C2E2 (Wizard World/Comic Con does not give us enough room to work with) to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of ROTJ. If we plan on having it ready for C2E2 2012 - then we can utilize it for 2 years...

I found this mural that we could use as a backdrop:

It is 12' wide and 9' High - comes in 8 panels that could be taped together from behind to make it as wide as we would need it.

It would be GREAT to build a speeder bike...
I know that Jerry Trieber built some for the one float two years ago...maybe he would be willing to share how he made them...and we could maybe add some bells and whistles...

We do have members already with Endor costumes...
and if Steve finishes his General Lando and Ashley finishes her Endor Commando...that would be two more...
We also have R2 Units and 3-PO...

we already have:

I think it would be REALLY cool...

Before jumping head first into something like that, you might want to check with Jerry Trieber. Wisconsin Garrison is planning on building props and backdrops for an event in Feb, that are supposed to be portable so they can be used for lots of things for a few years. I'm sure Jerry would help.

Not sure if this will help or not but I just saw someone on the PathFinders starting to mold speeder bike pieces.

I did mention Jerry in my post...
as I know that he did some really cool looking ones for the Racine Parade float...

Wink

It is good to know that he is working on some more permanent ones...
and I will certainly ask for his help...
get dimensions...
etc...

but it would be kinda nice to have one down here in IL too...

one doesn't just jump into a project like this....
there is a lot of digging around to do first...

Very Happy

and interesting Brian...
I will have to ask Cheryl about the PathFinders project....
I know she is a PathFinder...

Don't forget me. I'm technically ROTJ Wedge. Not that there's a whole lot of difference...

Beret and I are working on the other Endor Leia costume. And a few others are working on costumes that could fit that theme as well.

The bikes for the float were made out of cardboard with a wood frame. They looked good from a distance...but were not fun to sit on for 3 hrs. Or all that accurate.

Jerry had a full scale print out that we used for sizing and such. It really was an interesting build. I'm sure if we were looking for something more permanent we could come up with something.

I'll have to check in and see what the pathfinders are up too.

And there is this one down in Disney

Thanks Beth!

I poked around and signed up at the Pathfinder boards too....lol..

but..
you know your way around the boards better than me..

If Jerry has some drawings and dimensions...that would be GREAT!

It is just a thought at this time...
it may not be do-able..
but I sure would love to try...

Very Happy
