As event coordinator for a lot of events, I sometimes (usually for charity events) make an armband for participants to wear at the event.....

Like these:

I was thinking that maybe we could utilize this idea and make a TOD armband for each year.

Anyone wanting to participate...I would make an armband for them with the TOD year, their real name, board name, logos of squads they belong to and if you are also a MWG or WI Garrison - it would carry that logo too and your detachments in the 501st. (I am bringing up this idea to the MWG too)

Then any event you attend, you would get a little iron on transfer of said event to add to your TOD armband.

Obviously, if I co ordinate an event...or attend...I would be more than happy to make said transfers for said event.

One's I do not attend or co ordinate would require that event's coordinator to handle the job....which is fairly simple...
I can even send the event coordinator a graphic (it has to be mirrored) for them to print out...one only needs some iron on t-shirt transfer paper and you can fit a LOT on one sheet....

So the poll is up...
please be honest....I can handle it...lol..

The poll is up for 10 days...and if you change your mind...I allowed for changing your vote.

And...
We could start October 1....which is the 1st anniversary of NSB and the end of our probationary period -
oddly...the MWG keeps track of TOD from October to October as well -
what time period does WI Garrison track to and from?

so..
thoughts?

It's an intriguing idea, I don't know if it would work considering it requires other people to be involves and make the iron ons and those of us that do lots of events are going to run out of room quick.

good points...

It is a bit of work for me...but not overwhelming because it would be voluntary...and some may not even care about the armbands or want one..

so...it would be strictly for those who choose to "sign up"...
I just made 80 pink armbands for MSABC....
and 12 more for special cancers...
once you get a system set up...they go a little faster.

You are right Jim...those who do a LOT of events will fill one up...so I intend to make the TOD armbands longer to accomodate as many as humanly possible....
especially when you consider that many of us are in a whole lot of Squads, Sqadrons, Detachments and organizations...and I want to fully represent each member...
so for example...
mine would have: MWG, NSB, TJA, R2 Builders, Outlaw Squadron, Renegade Sqaud, GRRRL Squad, Temple of the Howling Moon, RAID, RLSC, KJO, Imperial Officers Corps, and White Armor.....lol...

Again, it would be up to the event coordinator if they would like to offer an "iron on" for their event....and...as noted...if it is an event that I attend OR coordinate...I would make them available.

to "install" the event graphic...one only needs an iron....and about 5 minutes...
Obviously....I would help anyone who doesn't have an iron install all of their iron ons that they collect at the end of the TOD year...

lol...I guess I am not happy unless I am making more work for myself...

Laughing

It's an intriguing idea.

WI garrison started keeping track in March and it lasted through May. No one has really kept track since then.

I think it would lessen the coolness of the ones you do for a real purpose.

Plus I don’t know that I could ever wear mine, it wouldn’t go with any costumes. LOL! I hardly wear my name tag, and I paid good money for that.

Something one of the ladies suggested in our office’s ‘girls only’ group is to get plain shirts, then iron on a little something for each of our outings onto the back.

What about the same basic ideal, but using a white t-shirt? Get the legion or base logo on the front and “Tour of Duty 2010” on the back, then iron away. Then anyone doing one would have a RL shirt to wear before/during/after events. If you’re not big on how it’s all done, you could even iron on the logos.

EXCELLENT IDEA DEE!

Something you can actually wear...
I LOVE it!

Joanne's sometimes sells plain white T-shirts at a really reasonable price...

or...
everyone could provide their own if there is a shirt that they prefer...

I think I have a stash of T-shirts left from when I was making Delta Squad shirts...so I could offer what I have up until they are gone...

I will check what sizes I have....

and the best part...
it doesn't need to even be a t-shirt..
could be a hoodie...
sweatshirt...
just about anything you can iron on..

Very Happy

I had that thought too.

Another thing... if everyone makes their own custom shirt, those of us that only do a few events per year could use one shirt for many years.

I wasn't here in time or I would have totally voted yes. I think it's a really cool idea as I plan on trying to start keeping track of what I do with the RL!

I did not know about the vote. some how I missed it, but I would have totally voted yes as well!
I love the shirt/apparel idea since I would like to volunteer for events that I may not have the most 'appropriate' costume for, but perhaps need a volunteer to take pictures or hand out materials or whatever...I could wear the shirt to 'fit in' with the costumed troop! Smile

I am super excited to receive my first armband from you for the Cancer walk! Smile
