Well...
Scot's Y Wing vest, gaiters, belt and ejection harness are all done...re-done and sent back to him to finish up the last few remaining things...
and hopefully soon he will be submitting his Y-Wing Pilot for approval...

With that project off the pile...
I am turning to 2 projects that have been on the pile...and thanks to Kevin Glass...I added a third project...

First project...
my snowspeeder pilot gloves. When I submitted my Snowspeeder Pilot, I used my Hoth Trench Trooper gloves...they are pretty much the same except for the wrist comm....since the HTT gloves were specifically made for that particular wrist comm....I have to modify another pair of gloves for the new snowspeeder pilot wrist comm...
so now that I finished what is an acceptable wrist comm unit...
I will be adding a lt. gray cuff to the gloves below...sewing on a piece of white velcro to correspond with a piece of industrial velcro on the back of the wrist comm...

Then there is the whole Gunner helmet thing...
I had put in a hard hat suspension piece in my former Gunner helmet...and put in fans...and I wore that helmet on a troop on a HOT night outdoors last summer....
When I wore the new gunner helmet yesterday at Legoland...I was sweating so hard that it was pouring down my face...soaking everything....even after only about 10 minutes...and this in an air conditioned building...
so...the new gunner helmet is gonna need to go through the same mods. The helmet came with an elastic strap inside and just a disc of foam at the top...I really think that where that foam keeps it in place nicely...your head does not have a good ability to vent heat....most of your heat escapes through your head ....so....I think that foam was just trapping heat...
well..
that's my theory...
so...
I think just as important as the fans is the addition of the hard hat suspension system...
I am trying some new fans this time...they are wider...and quieter...
and the two fans get wired to a switch and 3 - 9V batteries...
they are supposed to move 6 cf of air per minute...don't know how much that will actually translate out to....

and...

lastly...
thanks to Kevin Glass...I have some new resin pieces for Artoo...he had gotten these resin pieces for his R2 unit...and decided to go with aluminum...so...I have the opportunity to replace some of the really busted apart resin pieces on my poor Artoo....
My Artoo has seen a lot of missions over the years...and taken more than his fair share of abuse...so some of his ports are looking pretty bad....
once painted...these new pieces will give Artoo a fresh and better look..

well...
guess I have a few things to get around to...

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

What part of it?

and..
well..
bummer...

I wired up the fans... the "tech" guy at Comp USA gave me the wrong info on the wiring ....the 3 wires from the fan are hooked to a snap in connector...I only needed two wires that have to be wired to a series of 9 volts rather than a connector......all the wires were in a clear coating so I could not tell what was power..what was ground...so the "tech" told me which was which..
and..
well..
he was wrong with regard to the power wire-
so after much diddling around...I got the fans to work ....but..
meh..
not much air flow...
supposed to be 6 cfm...
so..
went on line and found better fans...10mm bigger...which still aren't too big and will move over twice as much air...13.0 cfm...

so..
now I wait for those to arrive by mail...

sigh...

thank goodness these fans are not that expensive cuz the one's I bought..I can't return..

The one sleeve top, the leather vest, the head wrap, and the belt with the flap thingies...

I know its a lot of work. I'm trying to find someone that can do it. So far, no luck. Plus, I wouldnt even know where to get the right material for the sleeve top. I already talked to Pam about the Leekus. They are actually much cheaper than I thought! But I don't want to buy them until I know what to do about the costume. It's so hard to do RL costume because they don't just come in as a "kit". Lol.

And about the fans, you have a lot of hair phyllis. How do u prevent ur hair from getting stuck in the fans...

Never in a million years would I have thought you'd want to do that costume JJ. I don't know why, but that doesn't seem you.

Well I've always wanted to do an alien. I've thought about ShaakTi, but I'd have to make the head piece and I've really only seen Disney do it perfectly.

I thought about Asajj, but wearing a bald cap is hard to cover.

I'm uncomfortable about how little she wears, but I think it would be perfect for Bartlett. Rob always is telling me to do a Slave Leia, but I have tattoos and I'd have to dye my own hair brown and get a braid extension.

Well....then there is the next question..
do you want to be Aayla...
or just a Twi'lek Jedi?

If you want to be Aayla...then...indeed...research would start with finding fabrics...
and...
no...
lol...
I have no clue where to find it either...

what I might suggest is that you look at the members profiles and find one of the newer Aayla approved members and shoot them a pm asking where they found their fabrics...

If you are getting the lekku from Pam...I might suggest that you splurge and buy both the lekku AND the headgear...after judging quite a number of Twi'lek Jedi in the past months...I can tell you that the headpiece is not easily done as a number of applicants I have seen have some really questionable headgear...

I would pm this girl...
asking her where she got her fabrics from....
http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/costume.php?mode=view&c=6739

or this girl...

http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/costume.php?mode=view&c=6611

One thing about both of these costumes is that the body paint is really too blue...
Aayla had more of a aqua/blue color that was not nearly as strong...

honestly though...
it is a lot of $$ to spend just for the Bartlett Parade...

so...
if you want to do a Twi'lek that wears more clothes..
you can use your current Jedi costume and just be a generic Twi'lek Jedi....
we have lots of people doing those now...

like this

or this

Here's is pretty good, but like what you said. Not the greatest either. I thought about doing Ashoka. Especially now that she isn't as annoying and she wears more clothes. Lol. Ashoka's headpiece is MUCH smaller than Shaak Ti because she's a lot younger. I'm still researching. Maybe I might get lucky like Rob and find someone selling an awesome costume in my size, really cheap.

ok...so I got the new fans in the mail for the gunner helmet...
....
larger fans......
moving more air...

cut the connectors off the fans...wired them up to the batteries and switch and heard the motors trying to move...but no fan blades moving...
so..
took it all apart (thankfully ..I did not solder connections)...
tried yellow wire instead of red...
still nothing..

and....
then it occured to me...
new fans are more powerful and I don't think the 3 9volts pack enough juice to get them moving...
so
I removed one of the large fans...and hooked up a small fan...
so now I have a large fan and a small fan...
and...
voila' ...both fans turn...
the larger fan really cranks out the air...
so between the two..I should be good to go...

now I just gotta solder and install...
