Spoke with a representative of Doctor Locks here in the states today, and she told me that:

We do carry both silky braid and jumbo braid, the "Kanekalon Jumbo Braid Extension Hair" is in fact the one with the matte finish.

Anyone have any first-hand experience with this stuff?

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to experiment with some this weekend. I have a pack of Silky coming that should be here hopefully tomorrow.

Hmm, I don't want to add to the confusion but what I ordered from Texas Beauty Supply was called "Silky Jumbo Braid". Confused

Just remember when you test to consider sweat and how it will effect the powder. I would hate to see someone ruin their suit with a product that is meant to reproduce dust.

Just cant imagine dust and sweat being a good combo.

I could be wrong though....

I see what your saying, its safe stuff as far as using it on just about anything. I've been using it for years on some high-end outfits in extreme heat and humidity without a problem, ever. Its non toxic, non staining, and can easily be washed out.

Good... not to mention she said she has some extra hair to test it on.

As mentioned, I'll test it out as well and try to provide some images with comparisons next week.

Update: The Ash Powder works exceptionally well on eliminating that Kanekalon shine.

So, I would like to check one thing again - I am EU citizen, so, it is ok to order Kanekalon Jumbo Braid from Afro Care?

http://www.afrocare.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=2792&substring=

Can be this "Kanekalon Jumbo Braid" good for doing Chewbacca costume?

Thank you very much for answer!

Looks like the right stuff to me. I think AfroCare has been recommended here in the past. They seem to have every color you'll need for a Chewie except gray.

Thank you for opinion Smile

Yes, they are missing now #44, but I hope, I will be able to order them in some another shop Smile

I would recommend Afrocare, they are very good to deal with and shipping is fast. Shipping is slightly expensive so you're better off buying a bulk order.

It has become increasingly difficult to find #44 in the EU, I had to buy from the US on the most recent project.

I used 20 brown bags, and 15 gray bags. Maybe a little extra for repairs.
