Although the name has not been voted yet, I strongly recommend to start discussing and developing a logo now in advance to get that much closer to submitting your application. This is going to be one of (if not the longest) discussion/votes in the entire process. You can plug the name in later and gives you latitude to design now for several names. Although a logo technically is not required to submit for establishment, it is at the descretion, and is the policy of this existing council not to approve a new base/outpost without a logo for this is how you will be recognized and stand out within the Rebel Legion....and we want people to see you once your base is formed.

This thread will stay open until the COmmanding Officer (select) tells me to lock it and start the poll to vote the logo. Remember there are certain criteria for logos...fonts being the big one....ensure you use an approved font...that is what stops most logos in the first place. Remember eventually you will want to make swag out of this so it needs to be a elegant, but simple design that will translate well into patches/coins etc. complex designs that are too detailed are hard to make merchandise with.

Designs submitted to go to vote MUST be in the finished full color professional format ready to be posted to the website if chosen.

Please let me know if you have any questions and have fun!!!! ALL POTENTIAL MEMBERS may submit and help in this procees regardless of membership level.

Pic edited due to typo..

This is a really rough draft of an Idea I did when I first learned that the base was going to be made.

Obviously, its very similar to AG's logo, which at this point *I* don't think is a good idea, but I thought I'd post it for feedback and perhaps so a more skilled artist can get a spark of creativity.

Ah, not sure what to do for fonts, etc...Like I said, this is a rough draft I can go back and edit real quickly if there actually is any interest.

Jakob, Margaret and I threw around some ideas at the Freedom Festival during one of the lulls, I think he's got a pretty good solid notion for a logo. The way he described it was a pretty good image in the stylistic of the Air force logos

It's "Rogue", not "ROUGE" Very Happy

But other than that, it's pretty cool...

Thanks Chris. I can describe it better than I can make it appear on the computer. I'm working on it though.

Hey, let me know if I can help with that. I've got a few source images that I could model from to get a nice rough draft going if you want to go ahead and PM that description you gave me and Sticks at the Provo Fest.

Hey gang,
I couple of points we ran into while working on a Timberline Garrison logo: Keep in mind the difficulty in embroidering. Also, keep the font as large as possible... when you shrink your logo down to fit it on a website, you don't want it tough to read (admittedly, ours is).

Also, keep color depth in mind. The more colors, the more screens when printing on a shirt. More screens = more $.

I don't know where RL stands on this, but the 501st prohibits the use of any LFL source images.

One final thing (and it's a technical thing): If at all possible, render the original in vector format so it can be scaled up and down.

Just so everyone knows, I'm trying to base my design off of the USA Track and Field Logo, replacing the star with the Rebel Insignia and making the wings like more futuristic, like an X-Wing or something similar.

Here's a link of what the their original logo looks like:

Just be careful how close to that logo you get. We can't use any copyrighted logo's and such. You can use it as a base, but make sure you change it so it can't be said they look alike.

I didnt think that that logo was a rip off of AG until you mentioned it, so it passed the First Impression test.
Fact is, we do have mountains here. And one of the *almost* names for the new 501st garrison in Idaho and Montana was "Great Northwest" Garrison. Its OK to play with the hand that you're dealt.

For those submitting logo designs, the vote is now in and Rogue Base has been selected as the new Base's name. Please feel free to submit logo design nominations with that as the base name.
