It's closed with hook and eye, there are photos of that on padawan's guide.

When I make this dress I'm going to lace it, even if it's not screen accurate, but I find that corsets are so much more comfortable and better fitting when laced. And since I would wear it more than for just a scene that would be my choice.

Oh wow yeah. That would be alot of hooks and eyes! I have a lot of extra fabric so I think I will make it lace up then put a panel to cover the lacing in with hooks and eyes. It will make them a bit off center but I can also add that panel later when I can find some hook and eye tape as I really don't want to sew them all by hand. And I agree on the fit and comfort when laced...

I never thought of that before, but this is 100% definitely a costume you have to have help getting into! I can't imagine trying to do that many hooks & eyes behind my back on my own! Shocked

The back of mine was made with hook/eye tape... it was an experience trying to get into it myself the first time LOL After a few times wearing it, though, you get to be able to do it pretty well without assitance Smile

Can't wait to see more progress on your gown!

Oh I didn't even think of how I would get it on.... I do actually have progress pics for you all today!

I forgot to post this when I first put it up a couple days ago, but I decided to actually use the free blog with my google login and put up my costuming progress. I am starting with this one (but will probably write up how I made all the others to add later).

It is at: http://padmeofhiddenlake.blogspot.com/ and has pictures and everything. I am hoping to get some more pics tonight and do another entry - but I need to fix one of the sleeves first cause I'm not too happy with the gathers.
