It is with great excitement that I want to announce that in Utah alone we have enough members to meet the 15 member Base requirement. We have worked several events with troopers in Idaho and Montana and have extended the offer of considering joining is in creating the new base.

A thread for this topic was started on the Alpine Garrison boards of the 501st Legion. If you are registered on the Alpine Garrison Boards you can follow it here (http://www.alpinegarrison.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9035).

Since many of you may not be able to follow that thread, the same thread will be initiated here and in the Mountain Base Forum. The purpose of the thread is to discuss (1) The new name for the Base, (2) The boundaries/territories it would cover, (3) The possible candidates for Command/Officer positions, and (4--optional, not required) a possible logo for the new Base.

All Mountain Base members are encouraged to provide their opinions and insights on this thread for consideration. The information discussed here, in conjunction with the other Rebel Legion members in Idaho and Montana, will be submitted with the New Base Application.

The discussion will last until the Deadline established on the Alpine Garriosn thread, June 17th at Midnight.

A similar thread has been posted in the Endor Base forum as well.

We'd hate to see you go, but the mileage sometimes just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I hope you won't forget about us, and come on down to Star Fest and our St. Patty's parade anytime!

Good luck! We'll miss you

Grampy-Wan and I are both in Montana. We think it's a great idea! Mostly because of distance. Very Happy

BTW, who else is in Montana?

I am really excited about this. I'd like to nominate Jakob as a CO, as he has a great deal of experience and works wonderfully with the Alpine Garrison and Timberline Garrison leadership. He's also incredibly helpful to new members, welcoming them in and making sure they have a great support network right off the bat.

I wish you guys the best.

Personally, I prefer names that have more to do with the region than an obscure Star Wars name, simply because it's something the non-fans can relate to or understand, but it's your base, have fun with it.

A friendly reminder is that your base cannot be approved without a logo. Good luck in your new endevor. Amadalia

Thanks for the heads-up, Becca. We'd been reading off of the charter:

Quote:
Applicants must complete a Base/Outpost Application Form for activation. The application form will list their proposed new Base/outpost name, roster of members from the Rebel Legion main membership roster, territorial boundaries, and a brief statement of purpose outlining the reasons for their Base/Outpost to be formed. The application form will also list the Base’s/Outpost's chosen Commanding Officer (CO) and any administrative staff such as Executive Officer (XO), Webmaster, Regional Captain(s), etc... (See Article III: Offices)

New Bases/Outposts will be placed on 1-year probation, in which they may develop a logo, but may not produce any merchandise with that logo.

It's good to know that changed.

With you guys growing so much lately, I was wondering when you'd decide to make the split. We will certainly miss you all, but congratulations on your recruiting! Great job!

As to a name, I'd have to agree with Bill and keep it something that the public can relate to. Geographic features, well-known Star Wars place names, regional descriptors, all make good base names. High Plains for example, or Snowpack... You have lots of options.

The 2 most suggested names on the other thread are:

Alpine Base and Rogue Base

Thoughts? Any more suggestions?

I like Alpine... Very Happy But I don't know about sharing a name with the 501st... maybe Rogue is a better choice...

Utah and ID/MT don't really share any geographic features, though... might be hard to come up with something else.

Rogue Base covers anything!

I wholly support the new base for these same reasons. I've been trooping with the Alpine Garrison as a Rebel from the beginning, it will be nice to have more Rebel organization out here. I second the notion of having Tic-Ja Faila as the new CO.

I did an extensive search on the RL forums yesterday, and you two are the only ones in Montana that I could find. There are several 501st members in Montana who might go RL in the future, or bring friends Smile I did go to a costume exhibit in Billings a few years ago, which was very fun!

The 501st's Timberline Garrison has some great troopers in Montana. Look them up.
