We usually get back from Door County around 3ish. Depending on when we get back to town we will try and stop by.

That is really cool. I have wanted to start something like this as well. My local SCA chapter has quite a few of the individuals who have been studying this as well.

Are you teaching from Tobler's book?

who is Tobler?????

i have trained with the long sword for years, mainly from the works of hans talhoffer and sigmund ringeck, so if any body turns up this is what they will basically learn, real medieval swordsman ship with a lightsabre twist

i was asked in january to put on a sabre fight demo and we have been doing demos at events since then,

That would be Christian Tobler. He has a translation out on Johannes Liechtenauer that also includes commentary on Sigmund Ringneck
here is the book I was asking about, http://www.amazon.com/Fighting-German-Longsword-Christian-Tobler/dp/1891448242

It is a great manual, A friend of mine who runs Gallowglass Academy highly recommends it.

Of course I started with Japanese sword, Eishin-ryū to be precise.

it looks like it could be a very interesting book, another thing i have to add to my long list of things to buy

if you live close enogh you should come and train with us, do yo train at your friends club

my first experience with the sword was also with the katana, but then i found long sword. we also practice with shield, buckler and pole ax. unfortunately there are no clubs round me so i sort of had to set up my own when i moved here

what is eishen ryu, i know there are several forms of japanese swordsmanship

I live near Rockford IL and work odd hours, so I doubt I could attend. I was curious to see if that was the manual so I could follow along in it. Yes we train at his club and also we tend to sometimes take over the local SCA chapters meeting space on Thursday nights to practice and learn
eishen ryu is a form of Iado.

we seem to have a few people who practice this art but none of us live near each other

my training partner is putting together a document on the basics of what we do, mainly gaurds and strikes. he will post it on here when he is done. if people find it of interest we will do another one with drills and exercises you can practice with a partner

i also see you have a jedi costume, are you a member of the kjo if so . dont forget to submit pics for our new jedi temple

due to financial issues, I will not be going to the Rockford event,
and I will have to cut back on a lot of more "long distance" trooping...
