I just have to work on the retaining head, and throw the clips on it. I don't think it'll be formal, but it'll be mine _________________

Would that be considered the "redneck" lightsaber? _________________ Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. |

Is that one of the K2 drop in bulb replacements?
What, no Hyperdyne kit? _________________

No hyperdyne for now. This is the under $500 model.
It's not redneck, I take offense to that. My last maglite saber was about as great as they come:

Not photoshopped, taken in the mid afternoon.
Anyone have any experience with colored disks and how to best mount them? _________________

Usually colored discs aren't mounted. They're just dropped in between the lens and the blade (the blade holds them in place). They do significantly dim the brightness, however.
Did you ever consider dropping $30 or so on one of the maglite blade holders from TCSS? They have some nifty looking ones that can very quickly change one of those from looking like a flashlight with a blade, to an actual saber.
Heck, I don't see why with a bit of decoration it couldn't be formal. Over at FX-Sabers.com there are a few maglite sabers that look really sharp. _________________

.....it's supposed to look like a maglite, that was always the point.
I saw the TCSS holders, but then I'd have to replace the maglite head. _________________

that's awesome - the first hilt I made for my belt was a mini mag with the flashlight end and bulb taken off/out. no one noticed the difference when I was moving around alot. _________________
