This is what I started with

And viola!

It is resin. Solid resin. It's really sturdy. The paintjob looks a hundred times better in person. I followed these tutorials:

Woodgrain:

Metalize:

You have to get the exact paints or it doesn't come out right. This is the cheapest place I've found for the Mohawk paints:
http://www.cdmcabinethardware.com

The gun itself is $60 (which includes shipping), the Mohawk paints are $24.20 (which includes shipping), the black paint was $3.47, silver metallic $3.47, Krylon Matte Finish to take the "shiny" off $3.47, (all from Wal*Mart), and the ivory/off-white paint for the woodgraining was a Behr sample for $2.94 from the Home Depot. The power pack and hose was around $50 and the holster was $115. It's for my 5 year old son who has ADHD. Sturdy or not, during the Adventurecon troop its getting superglued to his hands. LOL! Laughing

Nice! Great job on the blaster. Smile

Did you make the holster and/or "power pack"?

A friend of mine made the holster and another guy made the power pack.
