Has anyone here made a Bana Breemu outfit and if so do you have any good photos or tips about the back & neckline of the gown or the shape of the cape? I assume the sleeves do not attach to the gown. The shoes look like some sort of black platform sandals. The only photos I've found so far are of the front of the dress and her burnout velvet hood. Thanks! TJ

As far I know, no one here had made a Bane Breemu costume. You would be the first!

For the others: Bana Breemu was a female Old Republic senator. She appeared in the cut scenes in RotS, portrayed by Bai Ling (yep, the Playboy chick ^^).
However, it would be a great senatorial costume:

You would be the one to point out that she was in Playboy. Rolling Eyes Yeah, we get it, you like girls. You seem to want to point that out every chance you get. And sometimes your comments border on the creepy side, IMO.

She also played a Jedi in the Geonosis arena in AOTC.

Do you mean Baltar Swan? That was a different actress.

According to Wookieepedia the actress who portrayed Bultar Swan is Mimi Daraphet.

I'm sorry, this isn't intended to be. I will watch my tongue more closely.

Rolling Eyes Take it to PM's if you have a problem with him. No need to post your "honest opinion" to everyone.

I think it would be a fun costume to do! You will get to be the first which is always cool.

I find no entry for Bana Breemu in the costuming standards. I do hope the Costuming Judges will consider the character as "canon", even though she is seen only in a deleted scene.
There are not many Asian characters in Star Wars, and also (as far as I know) none of them are male. Even though, there is no rule whatsoever against Asians costuming as non-Asians, I know that there are Asian people who want to costume as one of the "Good Guys", but are dissuaded by the lack of Asian characters.

I have to defend him a bit here. The Playboy issue was released right before it was announced that she had been cut from ROTS. There were rumors going about that Bai Ling's scenes had been cut from ROTS because of her recent appearance in Playboy. The rumors were so strong that Lucasfilm even denied them publicly.
That used to be what most SW fans knew about Bai Ling (or Bana Breemu) at the time, if they knew anything.
Also, if you Google for "Bai Ling", you will find much more references to Playboy than to Star Wars. Rolling Eyes

I think that there's a lack of standards for Bana just because it hasn't been written yet, not that they won't recognize her as a character. I think the cut scenes are considered canon because they're included in the DVD. I'm making the cut scene AOTC Senator Padme costume and that is considered canon.

Excluding the Shaak-Ti-death scene all cut scenes are stated as canonical; the novel (and I think some of the comics?) support this. So Bana Breemu is an official character, as Giddean Danu or all the other Senators from the Delegation of the 2,000.

(I'm just sad for Shaak Ti that she was cut so often i.e. that her death was delayed until TFU. When she was at Jedi-Con 2008, I brought my RotS novel with me to have it signed by her with the words "I'm still alive. Shaak Ti. Orli Shoshan." I like it a lot. Cool )

Still thinking of doing this costume. I'm a bit leery of the hood, though. Anyone have suggestions on how to do the burnout velvet on this?

To do burnout velvet, you need silk velvet and Fiber Etch. Go to www.dharmatrading.com and look up devore(that is the technique of burning out velvet) and it has a good starting tutorial.

Cool, thanks! That's the clearest explanation I've seen so far.
