I was wondering if detachments such as ours have honorary members or is that a Legion thing only?
I'm asking because Peter and Angie Mayhew are planning on being at CV and I thought it would be cool to induct Peter as an HM of Docking Bay 94 if that is possible.

Hi Chris,

I'm not 100% sure if other detachments have HMs. I'll be looking into this as it strikes me as a great idea. I do know that he is a HM of the RL. If you want to run this by the LCO you have my complete support and backing and see what she says, or if you would like me to I would be happy to do so as well.

Members of DB 94, your thought are appreciated on this as well.

Thanks Steve.
I posed the Detachment HM question in the HM forum. We'll see what we get.

From Crystal

Quote:
I see no problem with this. However I would instead of making yet another acrylic award, make a printable certificate. Run the set up by the PR team to make sure its up to standards/code.

Then I would present that and a patch to him if I were in your shoes. I have an extra patch I can send you.

Whatever is made certificate wise should be one file, that the name on it can be interchanged. So everyone who would be inducted would get a similar certificate.

I'd even go so far to make it 5 by 7 so its not huge and can be put in a little frame and given that way. *shrug*

I'd also like to see this be for actors and actresses etc that actually ahd something to do with a character that would actually BE in the detachment. IE like your presented case. I would not, however, wanna see say, Dave Prowse, inducted as a detachment member.

Sounds like this is something we can go ahead with if we want. Anyone with better graphics skills and such than I want to tackle a certificate??

Let me know what you want the certificate to say and I will work on one. I have some experience with publishing and can try one if you want.

So do we want something that says something similar to the Legion plaque (whatever that is) or do we want to just go on our own??

Thanks Conley for your willingness to help.

I would suggest we go on our own as Peter ia a HM of the Legion already. We should make this unique and different for them.

Just a thought.

I think kinda like a futuristic diploma, with all the correct SW fonts and maybe a DB94 logo ghosted in the background.

That would be kinda cool too, same concept ghosted in the background.

I like both ideas.

Or how about the Medal of Yavin with the DB 94 logo on the medal ghosted in the back

Now as far as wording goes, how "flowery" do we want to get??
Would we rather have something along the lines of:

"In recognition of contributions to the magic of Star Wars and in appreciation of unwavering support of the Rebel Legion around the world, we hereby induct Peter Mayhew as an Honorary Member of the Rebel Legion's Docking Bay 94 Detachment"

This is of course a rough draft and I'm open to any rewriting, editing, etc.

Also, do we need to contact Peter when we get closer to CV and see if there is a preferred time for us to do this?? Or do we just spring it on him when we're all together and ready??

Offer Peter a few drinks take him to the bar after hours and offer it to him there. Knowing Peter he is not a big fan of Pomp and circumstance, and generally would rather hang out with us at dinner in a small setting or something. I can almost guarantee if you offer him dinner and a drink he will totally be down for this.
Not to mention for those who haven’t sat down with Peter, he is really laid back and fun to be with.

Bob
