Well, I am going all out. Talked my wife into doing another costume and the Wookie is my favorite. I have started gathering loads of information from you all and it will take some time.
I have learned alot from reading, but still have some questions?
The Kanekalon hair 27 is strawberry blonde, is that correct or is it supposed to be brown?
I am trying to contact duck as well, because I have some other questions and help needed from him I hope.
Does anyone have an average number of bags of each color of hair that is needed to complete Chewie?
#24 50-60 bags?
#4 10?
#44 10?
Also finding that #44 isnt available, any ideas.
Thanks

Hi Jay.
#27 Strawberry blonde is correct. The thing to be sure of is that wherever you get the hair from, it's Kanekalon and has the right number. For example - I ordered my #44 from the following link:
http://ikickshins.net/bulk.php
They call it Gunmetal Gray, but it's the right color.
Here's what I've used so far
#27 - 50 packs
#44 - 20 packs

Good luck!!

Thanks
Just to be safe I ordered 60 or the 27
15 of the 44
10 of the 4

Probably right, need more of the 44, but I have a place to get it now at least. Thanks
Items are coming together at least. No hurry. LOL

I'd recommend you use some #280 as well, it has more black in it.
#44 on it's own is a little too light!

Best of luck with it!

Ok, questions questions and more questions?
All the hair is in, and mesh is in. I am preparing to make the mesh suit but taking my time. Will do tommorrow.
Question one
How many strands of hair did you guys use, for the initial start? legs, and body....10-15-20? 30
Did you guys using stilts figure for your shoe size all the way up, and how did you fill the open voids in the stilts, and thigh area. Foam body suit?
Just wondering before I get started. I have read all of ducks tutorials, along with everyone elses I think, and just didnt see these questions anywhere yet.

First thing - BLOW DRY THE HAIR FIRST!!! Look at the beginning of my build thread and you'll see I started without blow drying and looked like a giant puffball.

I would say to use around 10 strands per loop. You don't hook every hole (about every 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch), but all the layers pile on top of each other. Too many hairs just means more trimming later.

Can't speak on the stilts as I'm not using them.

Ok well pants are done, well mesh sewed. That took along time, and figureing Now on with the hair. Just have a small amount done. Will post up one leg, some day. It has been 8 hours and I am just to the ankle.
Separating the hair is the most tedeous.

Hey need some help or advice
On the feet: where did you guys get the silicone, or foam feet, or latex toes like duck has in the tutorial section?
I have the bottom being waterjet cut out of aluminum with rubber belting material underneath for traction and non slippage.
Second question is where to get screen caps or pics for reference in putting the hair on correctly?

I got my latex toes from duck.
You can PM him and see if he has any or can make any - no guarentees though since he's probably chin deep in mask kits right now.
Screen caps I just did a Google search for Chewbacca to supliment the ones in the Costuming Resources section.

Thanks for the info. I have sent him an email myself as well. I have a mask on order with him, so I am crossing my fingers that maybe he has the toes as well.
Thanks
Any other ideas are welcome as well. Pics are still being acquired to...
