I am re-posting this here, cause unless you are already a approved pilot you cant post in the outlaw Squadron threads.. Embarassed

to the powers that be..if this is a no no...feel free to delete.. Very Happy

Help A Future Outlaw.

I am thinking about starting a program up for Outlaws-in-Progress..

I was thinking maybe if anyone has parts that are no longer needed,
maybe they would like to donate them to the O.P.(Outlaws-in-Progress)

for example I have upgraded some of my parts(with the help of the Outlaws),
but now I have older parts I dont need.
plus I can make the arm tools and all the flares..

when we get some more members working on pilot costumes we can donate some parts to them..
and if they ever decide to upgrade their parts, maybe they can donate back the older ones...

I understand some may want to sell their extra parts to get their money back...no problem..I can understand that completly

anyway, I was thinking about this because I am trying to put together a pilot costume for a friend of mine.. and I thougth maybe we could do it for other Outlaws-in-Progress..

I am thinking maybe I'll put whatever I can get in a bin and then see who needs what..and so on..

Mike Hoppin offered some of his extra parts..
if anything...I'll have to arm tools and flares to donate for sure.
and If I upgrade other things.. the older stuff will go in the OP bin

I figured I would accept anything that the RLSC accepts..
dosent have to be "Canon" but has to be acceptable..
for example my belt...my older one does not have the mini-flares or the correct buckle, but it is still acceptable in the "costume standards"

let me know if you want to put anything in the OP bin.

everything will be given away for free. with nothing in return expected

Well I have an extra unaltered (and HUGEMUNGOUS) flak vest that anyone who wants it is welcome to it. It doesn't have tube for the ribs so that would need to be provided.

I also have the remainders of my second cb flightsuit for second pocket material for anyone who wishes to go that route.

I'll probably have more stuff down the line as I slowly upgrade parts.

Crix - "powers that be" says you're fine. Actually I think it a great idea. I've used it twice before, just not with this particular hobby.

First Time - When I ran a 25-person group of Elizabethan Mariners for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire out here in SoCal. Turns out that onboard 16th Century ships there was a thing called a "Slop Chest". What happened was that when a man left behind clothing or personal equipment (either by dying on ship, by deserting, or just leaving when his term was up) it all got termed "slop" and was put into a chest. Then when newly "impressed" sailors showed up on ship, they were kitted out from the Slop Chest. Whereas those sailors had to pay off their gear, we passed ours out for free. As a result, the Slop Chest I started with the faire group is still going strong 10-years later even though I'm long-gone. I even believe there's a doublet of mine still being passed about.

Second Time (and still GOING) - I've started using this concept with my son's Cub Scout Pack (I'm Cubmaster). We have scouts who have left, moved on, or simply outgrown their old uniform bits donate them to the Pack Slop Chest. When new scout families come in, we sell them (at at-least a 50% discout) the donated gear to help their initial cost outlay. All funds go directly into the Pack Fund which pays for the boys awards, trips, etc.

So, all I can say is, as long as participation in the program is completely voluntary ... Good Luck with YOUR Slop Chest! (It's definitely a way to boost Squadron numbers quickly and easily.) cheers

Very Happy

And speaking of Mike...
he is probably either already gone home to California...
or will be shortly...

I will have to check my stash of fabric, strapping, etc to see what I have extra...

I do have the flare holder made for Andrew...
I still need to make one for Augie....
and set aside strapping and flak vest hardware for Augie....

you are welcome to hold on to your stuff..and if someone post, you can do what you want with it..

I probably won’t get around to working on my X-wing pilot until next year or at least until after CV. I just have too many projects to get done.
