I've been working crazy mandatory OT everyday and it looks like thats going to be the norm for the summer..

havnt been feeling well, I guest its cause I've not been sleeping well.. mainly cause I have to stay awake to watch the kids so Tara can work.. geting maybe 4 hrs sleep some days..
I know I should be happy I have a job, but this sucks

You're not alone, brother. I traded two weeks worth of shifts to have the weekend off for C2E2 and then, days before the event, I get stuck on OT because of an equipment failure. We were told this would last about two weeks. That was about two weeks ago and they haven't started fixing anything.
I was/am excited about being part of this group but I feel like I am stuck on the launch pad. Hopefully things will slow down a bit and I can get to an event.
Anyway, stay strong.

I feel really bad for both of you...

Employers these days feel that employees are just "disposable" and that whatever they throw at you that you are supposed to bow and say..

"thank you....may I have another?"

I can only hope that things get better for both of you soon...
or that something comes along to brighten your day...

thats true, ive never lived or been to a country like it. they seem to want to work you into the floor then throw you out. people are surprised when i tell them any full time job back home comes with a minimum of 20 days vacation from the time you are employed. even super market employees get this. also our health scheme is different as you get treatment whatever your situation as there is no insurance and you dont get into massive debt

It is true, we are viewed as 'disposable'. Most companies say that they are a 'family orientated company', mine is one of them, but they pile on the OT, mandatory training (which your job depends upon), quarterly requalification (which your job depends upon), and three people's permission to get a day off.
If you don't like it, they don't care. They know that the economy is in their favor and there are several people waiting to take your spot. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I'm able to pay my bills, however, I don't think that should be the greatest thing that I have to say about the place I spend the majority of my time.

Feel your pain! Hope it gets better soon! Bang Head whack

On the disposalbe employee note...has anyone ever seen this movie called "Moon"? It is about a guy who works at a mining station on the moon and he is the only employee up there. I really felt bad for the guy and the conditions he is working in. I can relate to his situation. It is a good movie and I do not want to give away the twist to anyone who has not seen it. It is definately worth checking out.

sooo....
I don't have television anymore...
had cable disconnected over a year ago because I really could not afford cable anymore...
and..
had no conversion box ....so...I have had no reception since January 2012...

over the long weekend...decided to rent a few movies...
the television finally blew up...

so...
I got nothin....

so...
I decided to go to the show...and went to see Star Trek - Into Darkness...

Good movie...
one thing troubles me about JJ Abrams though...
there was SO much action that it takes away from the characters sometimes...

my favorite parts of the movie were small moments with the characters like Jim, Bones, Scotty, Chekov and of course Spock...

I hope that the new SW movies will give some time to character developement and re-developement of our beloved characters...

Sorry for not being around the last week or so, I've been spending most of my office time out of my office building and installing new systems at work (they also dumped two new employees on me as well, last minute Mad )

Heads up to all of our members with kids (or relatives) into Star Wars...

As you have no doubt saw, I am getting rid of most of my Star Wars collection...especially toys...

Most of it is not worth what I paid for it...
so...

if you are thinking ahead and want to pick up some great toys cheap...
lmk...

All of the stuff is brand new in the box...

I sold a half a Jeep full of stuff at Cheryl's on Saturday
and
I have a pile of stuff that will be put up for sale at the upcoming ToyCon event...so...
if you want to look around...
lmk...

So yesterday was my 10th anniversary at my job. Where the hell does the time go?

I'm about at the halfway point for my system overhaul at work. If everything goes to plan, I'll be done with this 70-80 hour work weeks the first weekend in October. The bad news is that completely rules me out of Star Wars Reads Day events, the good news is that means Discovery World is a go.

Also we welcomed two additions to our family. Meet Eleanor Rigby and Annabel Lee.

I'm already teaching them to be good Rebels thanks to PetCo. They love swatting TIE fighters.

I am tired of working...
I have been working for over 46 years...and am sooooo done with it..

I've only been working for 15 years here, and I would love to retire. More time to sew.

I can only imagine. I'm not a believer that retirement is actually good for everybody if you don't keep busy, somehow I don't think you'd sit around and get bored Phyllis.

If I was able to retire....I do have plenty of hobbies to both keep me out of trouble...
and
sadly
in trouble at the same time....
