I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing and if I can really afford to go.

Florida in August is like the last place I wanna be in costume, I guess it depends on money, who's going, and whats going to be there.

It's a pretty good bet this is a no-go for us. Too far to travel and too expensive with the amount of costumes we have, and the weather is too daunting. And frankly, if it wasn't for working the costume contest at C4 and getting some of our expenses comped, we would not have been able to do that convention either.

Not to mention it's the same weekend at GenCon, where I work with Anne Brown on her contest for that convention. What I find noteworthy is that Anne has always done the contests for the Celebrations but with this clash, she'll most likely end up at GenCon and that will be leave a big hole for C5's contest but I'm sure they'll find someone to work it out.

It's too bad - it's the 30th anniversary of my fave SW film plus this is the weekend of my birthday. It would have been a blast.

But I admit I'm not surprised. The moment Orlando was announced as a possibility, my instincts realized immediately it was pretty much over.

And LFL will never understand what they did to the fans. There'll be so many tourists there that weekend to fill the vacuum, who will come to the convention out of sheer curiosity, they won't lose a thing. It's always about the almighty dollar anyway.

Trips with family are already planned, so I am sorry not to be able to go. It would have been my first.

It looks like the Belgium Garrison is bringing some outstanding props to CV:

Well, since the news is out anyway.

We're pretty much rounding up the contract with Lucasfilm Ltd. and Reed, to bring two shipping containers to Orlando, containing our full range of Star Wars large scale props.

We are currently working through evenings and weekends, to get them ready for Celebration V. Looking at the current floor plan, it appears our props will be the very first thing people will see when entering the halls!

Those of you who think they have seen these already, rest assured that in many cases: you have not. Several years of deployment on events in Belgium and abroad, have taken a heavy toll on our props, which necessitated heavy revision, repairs and improvements on the most popular ones.

A quick summary:

1) The AT-AT v2.0: this one was a popular prop. First built with the intention of using it only once. It lasted about 8 years, then we finally found it no longer usable and scrapped it. We kept the leg and foot frames, but now we're completely rebuilding everything else in much sturdier materials and with systems which will allow easy build-up and break down.

2) The snowspeeder v2.0: this too was a very popular prop, but had initially been built without the intention of moving it around much. It has been stripped and refurbished inside, with the rest being reworked for easier build up and break down. It has also become roomier inside the cockpit.

3) The speederbike v1.1: this one had been refurbished two years ago. The new feature wil be a matching...

4) Endor bunker entrance v1.0: first introduced in Paris last year and then again in Gent, Belgium. Celebration V will be the third appearance of the Imperial bunker backdoor entrance, with the speederbike parked in front.

5) The Outrider v1.1: commonly called the Millennium Falcon on conventions and probably on CV as well. But technically, it's the chess corner we all know, but with the straight corridor from Dash Rendar's Outrider.

6) Jabba the Hutt palace set: everyone's favourite slug. Will include the Max Rebo band and costumed members representing guards, bounty hunters, henchmen, dancers... A lot of this prop has been repaired and improved upon.

7) Moisture vaporators: nothing much to say about these. Smile

Cool E-web cannon v1.2: completing the Hoth scene will be this well-known Imperial gun.

9) Something new which is going to knock everyone off their socks. Nothing like this has ever been built before full size. Not even for the shooting of the actual movies.

10) And if we have spare room for him, we will also bring our Wampa statue. But this is not a guarantee.

As usual, we will open our sets to the public for photoshoots, from doors opening to some time before doors close again. We will end queues at a certain time, so we can empty them by the time the venue closes down.
Which means you will be able to climb in, sit on, stand in those props which will allow it. Some, like the AT-AT, obviously don't allow for people getting in.

Number 9 is an exception. While it does allow access to get in, we won't be allowing the audience in due to time restrictions and the hazardous nature. We won't be risking anyone getting injured from taking a false step.

That's alright, if things work out we will have a mini r2 builders room at the discovery museum. I just got keith belly up, and maybe tom and rick as well. If so it would be an awesome event.
