Next up is "the big one"...
The Joliet Library Star Wars Day event on Saturday June 4th.
This year NSB featured our Pilots for the display
Some group photos
The Outlaws
I see Pilots...
This year our charity project was selling official "Nar Shaddaa Base Holdout Blasters" - these were actually just blasters found at Dollar Tree that looked suspiciously like a concept blaster that Tim Jarmusz had made...
the blasters were offered as a "prop challenge" for $3.00 - a whopping $620.00 was collected from this project. The money is headed to one of our own...details to follow once the check is sent out.
I stole a lot of good photos off Facebook for this event...
here are but a few...
Tim Jarmusz trying to recruit more Pilots...
Never put these two in the same room....trouble will likely follow...
Always good to see members of Renegade Squad out and about..
The Jedi...
Aggressive negotiations in the Solo household
the Skywalkers...
NSB had both of their Wookiees out tag teaming..
and...you will never know what you might see at the after party...
More photos...both my own...and stolen from only the finest albums on Facebook are here:

Sometimes we are called upon for something a little more serious....
Make A Wish contacted NSB to grant the wish of a 5 year old to become a Jedi...
and..
become a Jedi he did...
complete with a custom lightsaber - in a handcrafted wooden box that contained all he will need to keep his lightsaber in top shape along with the Jedi code to live by...
a complete Jedi costume - robe, inner tunic, outer tunic, obi, tabards, belt, pouches, food capsules and lightsaber clip.
NSB and the MWG put on an entire program with no rehearsals...
First the Jedi council convened to see if our MAW padawan was a good candidate...
the voice of Yoda came through the theater's speaker system...the special recording he heard was made by Tom Kane...
Tim Jarmusz acted as our MAW boy's Jedi master...and led him through the trials...
he was given advice on the contemplative aspects of the Jedi code from our Depa - Meg
He received instructions on Force pushing from Dan
and..
of course...
the all important lightsaber battle instructions by Nick and John
all of the Jedi present also took part in the lightsaber training...it was pretty darn impressive to see all of those lit and humming lightsabers on stage...
The MWG then provided some Sith Lords in the form of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and Darth Maul....who came to the stage accompanied by a variety of denizens of the Dark side...
the Sith Lord force pushed all the Jedi...leaving only our MAW boy and his Jedi Master...
mayhem ensued...
Huge thanks to all of our members who made all of the items given to our MAW boy...
and
all of those who came to show support...
Because of privacy laws, I can't show you the photos of the MAW recipient...but...
here are a few I can show you...
As noted...we had no rehearsal...
but did a walk through first..
Wish granters....
the Jedi...
some of the rest of the group...

I forgot to post a mission report here for this small event. Three of us Jedi appeared at a very small event at al local frozen yogurt shop in Naperville. The owners of the shop asked us to appear as part of their fundraiser for Documenting Hope, a charity that is raising awareness of terminally ill children by documenting their stories.
The event took place June 1st.
Thanks to Jason Stoxen and Laura Smith for helping me with this event.

Attended the Relay for Life event for Cancer Society on 6/10/16.
My thanks to all RL and 501st members who made this event on such short notice!
I did, however, ask for a verification of the training regime provided by this establishment!

New Lenox Relay For Life 7-8-16
My VERY sincere thanks to all of the members who drove long distances and on a warm night chose to give their time to this Relay For Life.
The person that requested our appearance at the Relay is a long time friend and fellow restoration volunteer.
The entire theme of this Relay was chosen based on an appearance by the Nar Shaddaa Base and the Midwest Garrison. The theme for the event was "May the Cure Be With You".
These events are very meaningful for cancer survivors, caregivers, family and friends of those who have experienced the pain of a cancer diagnosis. It was our main duty and privilege to lead the Survivors lap of the field.
For charity donations I am reporting the following as we were invited to attend this, the theme was based on our being there, and we had a duty to perform.
The event raised $33,410.49 at this posting - so that might be considered indirect funds.
Direct funds was $50.00 as I personally made a donation to the team of my friend Mark Wieclaw.
Participants:
Thomas Turner - NSB SL4913 - Chewbacca
Steve Mamman - NSB TK7345 - X-Wing Pilot
Laura Smith - NSB - Jedi
Blair D - NSB - Classic Leia
Phyllis Schulte - NSB -TK1951- Rebel Fleet Trooper/Droid Handler
Chris Ward - TK 81477
Michael Stoughton - TK17294

A few Jedi and one princess from Nar Shaddaa participated in the Walk or Run for Wishes event at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village hosted by Make A Wish foundation of Illinois. We walked at special request of the family of our recent initiate, William, who was at the event as an ambassador for MAW. We walked the 5k together and in costume.
MAW reported that the event raised over $180,000.
Well done, group.
