On October 31, 2009 members of Nar Shaddaa Base and the Midwest Garrison invaded a Halloween Block Party in Caledonia, WI. While there we held a meet and greet with the neighborhood children and spent a bit chatting with the Caledonia fire department Smile. A great time was had by all in attendance. Thanks to Kevin and Keri Koceja (MWG members) for hosting us all at their house and for the part afterwords.

Participants:

The Mission:

Don't know if you guys saw a little contest that Gil is running for Pilots...
but here is his "challenge"...

"In fact the first RLSC Pilot to post a picture in full costume (with everyone else dressed nornally) watching the ANH Pilot briefing gets a special prize from me... No joke. Extra points for originality. No Photoshop."

Very Happy

The thread with the annoucement is here:

http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=283231#283231

We got our "mission" above done...and the "Outlaws" were the first to do it...

Crix got his Jedi on....pinned the final for hemming...

and...

Outlaw 5 is officially ready to take to the sky...

Thank you Crix, Steve and Jim!

The trip to the mega fabric store...
we went..
we saw...
we didn't buy much...

but always nice to get together with fellow Base members...and look for fabric for that next costume on the horizon..

Well...they seemed to have cleaned the place up a little...
but it still has quite a bit of chaos...

In attendance:
Crix
iam8114
Blue
LeiaYT1300
Schph Gochi..
and....I forgot your friend's name..which is typical for me...I don't get names straight till I have had a chance to hang out with someone at least 3 times...lol....she was seen leaving with an entire bolt of fabric....always a good thing to find what you are looking for..

Anyway....
a few photos...

Looked like some very interesting games they had....

yeah I cant believe I forgot it Embarassed I was so worried about getting Luke's ready..I didnt even think about it...
its the one thing I keep separate from the rest of the stuff..
I hang the suit up and everything else stays in the box..
I took a ton of pics, so at least I did something...
Luke looked awesome in his costume..alot of people really loved it..
got to find him some "jedi" boots..so far no luck....been to all the resale shops in the area and walmarts and targets...one of these days.. Very Happy
we did not pin anything on him...its a little big, but still looks cool..and we wanted it big anyway, to last a couple years..hopefully..

A workshop on weathering was held at my house. The upcoming winter storm put a dampner on the day in as much as 1/2 of the participants cancelled out due to the advancing storm.

But...we had one instructor show up - Ed from the MWG.
I had LOTS of different blasters to practice on and we tried several techniques. I know I learned something...I hope our other participants did too.

Participants...
From Nar Shaddaa Base:
Jim Norman-iam8114
Me - Schph Gochi

From the Midwest Garrison:
Ed Krzyzowski
Steve Szyndrowski

The very few photos I remembered to take...

As always, good to get together and talk a little costuming and Star Wars...and we did toss some good techniques out there...

Thanks for coming guys....

And Jim...

Thanks so much for making my computer talk to me again....
lol...
now I can go on to making R2 speak again

The screen does look a LOT brighter too...

Last night Crix and I costumed an birthday party for a 9 year old named Connor in Orland Park IL.

Participants:

From the 501st:

SL1781 Rich Markle
ID3052 Steve Szyndrowski
TI4026 Cherri Krzyzowski
DZ4438 Ed Krzyzowski
TK 6312 Pat Engle

From the Rebel Legion

X-Wing Pilot - Thomas "Crix" Turner
Undercover in TK - Phyllis "Schph Gochi" Schulte

A good time was had by all...
And...we raised $150.00 for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The event co-ordinator was Ed Krzysowski and here is his mission report:

A friend of mine saw my trooping pics on FaceBook and wanted to know if it would be possible to have a few troops attend his sons birthday party.
I told him it wouldn't be a problem. We can work something out.

By 6:45,all available troopers were secretly gathered on the street in front of Connor's house. We geared up in the garage and were ready to rock by 7:30.

We made our entrance to the Star Wars theme music and quickly took control of the party. The kids were extremely surprised to see several Imperials and a Rebel pilot step through the door. From what I'm told, they were absolutely floored when Vader quickly followed. The kids eventually noticed the lowly Tusken lurking in the background.

Connor was presented with a choice of gifts from the Midwest Garrison. He chose a Clone Commander Stone figure.R2-D2 and a couple of Jawa figs were awarded as prizes to the winners of several games of hot thermal detonator.

The kids were then gathered together for a group photo with Legion members. Two stormtrooper helmets were supplied for the kids to try on and take pictures in.

Bags of tats and candy were handed out to all, then we attempted to make our exit accompanied by more Star Wars music.Somehow, several of the troops wound up dancing with the kids. The Tusken took this opportunity to raid the kitchen for some goodies.AGAIN!

We eventually made our way back to the garage, geared down and enjoyed some liquid refreshments provided to us by Connor's dad.At this time we were presented with a check for $150 payable to the St. Jude's Childrens Foundation.

Troops on hand for this event were:

TK1951 Phyllis Schulte
SL1781 Rich Markle
ID3052 Steve Szyndrowski
TI4026 Cherri Krzyzowski
DZ4438 Ed Krzyzowski
TK 6312 Pat Engle
X-Wing Pilot crix

Lotta orbs in these photos!!!
Did you bring a few friends Steve???

Neither rain, sleet nor dark of night...
or something like that...
yesterday members from both Outlaw Squadron and Renegade Squad joined the Midwest Garrison for the Naperville St. Pat's Parade. The weather left something to be desired, but in retrospect - it could have been a lot worse. The persistant drizzle, mist and rain did keep the crowds down for the parade....but never the less - the people who did line the parade route were excited to see us. Ted (MWG Organizer) said that the Parade committee was disappointed that we were not at this parade last year...but we showed up in force this year.

Thanks to our Rebels:

Renegade Squad:
Augie (Augie Webster)
R2-S5 (Darryl Sorensen)

Outlaw Squadron:
Crix (Thomas Turner)
iam8114 (Jim Norman)
Schph Gochi (Phyllis Schulte) -though since I drove my Jeep in the parade - I did not put on the entire costume...

Whinter Fenlynn (Cheryl Whitaker) was undercover in her Biker Scout.

The Rebel Medical Frigate was decked out in the usual Alliance Flags and I made a "special" banner this year adding the Alliance symbol to a St. Patrick's day banner.

The lead vehicle was River's Imperial Cruiser (in black) - followed by my Rebel Frigate which was followed by the best ever vehicle...
Darryl's!!
Darryl's Road Squadron vehicle pulled his trailer with R2-S5 manning his bfg and spinning his dome to the absolute delight of the crowd.
Thank you Darryl for coming all the way down from Wisconsin...you were the obvious hit of the day.

Thanks to all our Rebels...you guys hung by the Frigate and really enforced our "Rebellion" as I hear the crowd often shout..."It's the good guys"!

Members of Nar Shaddaa Base, The Midwest Garrison of the 501st and the Midwest Order of The Jedi Assembly took part in Star Wars day at the Joliet Public Library yesterday.

Over a month ago, MWG member Jody McQuarters and I installed a massive amount of costumes, props and memoribilia in the display cases at the Library to generate additional excitement for our visit there....

The actual event was yesterday and the Library was mobbed. The Joliet Library had set up stations with games, projects, and videos for all of the kids and we supplied a "tatoo station", activity books, and of course costumed members for photos and interaction.

At the end of our tour of duty there, the folks at the Library stated it was their largest special event ever...

Nar Shaddaa Base participants:
X-Wing Pilot: Crix
Jedi - Janqui
RFT - Schph Gochi

Members undercover:
iam8114 - TK
Whinter Fenlynn - Biker Scout

For me.....it marked my R2's first mission now that he is back to active duty after some re-building.
