"Done" for now! Still not 100% happy with the collar, going to redo that. May continue to play with the burnout velvet dyeing. Also playing with a way to keep the capelet/mantle from dropping and drooping over time.

This was certainly a learning experience! Thanks for all the help and advice.

Looks good, how did you end up doing the pink scrolls on the cape? Amadalia

Thanks!

Bought a stamp-making kit, made the stamp, iron-embossed the velvet, then painted it using soft/matte tulip paints. I ended up mixing lilac and periwinkle to get the shade I wanted. Also, the ironing didn't go quite as planned; it was a bit difficult to line up the stamping (I used a set of two of the scroll-loop patterns grouped together), and the heat would sometimes cause the edges of the last embossing to come out. Also, the brush would gum up sometimes, so the paint got a little stickier in places than I'd have liked.

It looks good! How did you do the "metal" hair piece? The scrolls look good, even though it sounds like they were a headache!

Thanks!

Sculpey Premo for the hairpiece. :~) Silver color, hours and hours and hours of rolling and sculpting and measuring and baking. (And covering my nose!)

The shots are a little too bright but the costume looks marvelous! Good work. Impressive. Smile

Tweaked a few things and got some better pics from Miana at Legoland last month...here's where it's at now. I'm still not completely satisfied with the collar or the color of the capelet and tabbard, so those will be "down the road" issues to take care of. But overall, mostly happy with how it's going.
