Sent my pics too!

I've got another R2 unit. I hadn't planned on making it, but I recently got laid off, so I'm using my new free time to the fullest! Haha

I just finished an awesome event at the Chattanooga Symphony last night. Check us all out here:

Here's the latest from the SW in concert organizers:

Thank you for all of the submissions! They are all wonderful! Are we still at this final number of 23 volunteers? Let me know if you have had any changes to either the 501st or Rebel Legion rosters that I have received.

As for show day, we ask that all volunteers arrive at 5. This is an hour before we will need everyone ready and in costume by. Wendy and myself will meet volunteers at the Will Call box office entrance of the Gwinnett Arena and escort in for early entrance and to the changing room. We will meet everyone beginning at 5 and ending at 6. Once doors open at 6, we will no longer be able to accommodate volunteers and any late comers will have to purchase a ticket and enter with the general public.

We will be able to provide tickets to anyone who has not purchased a ticket already for the show. I will pass these out as I mark them off of my roster list. They do not need to be picked up from the will call windows.

We will also provide water for volunteers.

Parking is free at the Gwinnett Arena so there should be no issues there. Since everyone will be arriving an hour before the general public, I am hoping that there will be ample parking closer to the venue.

Let me know if you have any questions. I am looking forward to meeting you both and to an excellent show in Atlanta!!

Beth

Any idea if there will be a good place to drop off droids, so we don't have to run them through the parking lot?

Hey guys, I have a quick question(s) regarding this concert.

My girlfriend and I are not yet members of RL (hopefully someday once we work on our costumes a bit more) but we are planning on attending this event in our jedi costumes.

In general how do things work when there are officially sanctioned RL/501st members milling about and some random person attends the event who also happens to be in constume? Do her and I need to worry about being mixed up with those who are supposed to be in costume? Is there anything we need to do to make sure we don't mess things up for you guys? Should we even wear our costumes?

Perhaps I am just being a bit overly cautious. Very Happy

Anyways, I look forward to the concert and to hopefully bumping in to a few of you to say hello. Once we work on improving our attire we'll be putting in applications to RL.

I wouldn't recommend wearing your costumes. Just so that the people that we're working with doesn't get you guys, and the people who are actually trooping confused. The people trooping had to submit their costumes into Lucas Film Ltd. to get approval to even troop this event.

I'm not saying you "shouldn't" wear your costumes, because some other people in the general audience might come in costume too. And I don't want to tell you no, you can't, or yes you can. I just wouldn't recommend it.

For this event, Rebel Legion and 501st members aren't allowed to be in costume in the arena while the concert is going on.
Quote:
Costume Guidelines
To avoid distraction from the show, participant’s costumes should not be worn in the concert arena, unless at the rear of the main floor or in the rear loges or balconies. We ask those who will be seeing the show to change into street clothes before entering the concert arena. We do not expect any participants who have bought tickets to interact with the audience on the concourse during the 30-minute intermission, as there is not enough time for participants to change into costume, interact with the audience, and change back into street clothes in that 30-minute time period.

Oh and just a reminder..... We have to be there at least by 5:00, so don't forget about traveling in weekday Atlanta traffic. Allow yourselves plenty of time allotted for that. Wink

Luckily my girlfriend lives about 5 minutes from the arena so no traffic worries for us. We'll be getting there around 6:30-7:00.

I will try to talk her out of wearing costumes but she seemed pretty excited about it. We'll just try to lay low and avoid other costumed people if so. Ours are not the best (hence why we are not members yet Very Happy ) so hopefully that will help us blend into the "normal people who just dress up for some odd reason" crowd. Razz

Steve (Loosetoon) has a contact name over at the arena, I'll see if he can get us some info about where you can load/unload the droids.

Thanks, it would be bad to have to run around the parking lot trying to find a place to drop him off at. Smile

Turns out my gf and I will not be in costume for this event to help avoid any undue confusion/craziness. Hopefully someday soon we can get into RL and troop with you guys officially. Very Happy

I can't wait to see your great costumes and droids tomorrow night!

Well, Steve didn't know about the parking situation. However it looks like there is a parking lot adjacent to the arena. You might need to drop R2 off and then park. We will be arriving at 5pm, a good hour before the doors open for the public so hopefully everyone will be able to get a decent parking spot.

For those who need a street address for the arena:

The Arena at Gwinette Center
6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30097

See everyone there!

Please try to be there a little before 5pm.

I'll be checking my e-mail and RL website before I leave tomorrow am. Send me a pm if you need my phone number.

Beth
