X-Wing Costume Workshop
Date: November 15, 2009
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Place: My house in Mokena - pm for address

Both Jim and I ordered ours flightsuit from Costume Base and Crix's jumpsuit is also Costumebase..so we should all be consistant with each other.

We will try to help each other in achieving this costume.

I am hoping Crix can make the code cylinders.

I will make the leg flare holders (Crix-we can re-do yours if you want...I think you said that you had some issues with it) and also we can tweak the flak vests with tubing.

Here are the RL X-Wing Costume Standards for the basic Pilot:

Rebel Pilot Costume Standards
X-Wing pilot (Episode IV; VI), Y-Wing pilot (Episode IV)

Required Items:

Orange flightsuit with mandarin-style collar and pointed tab, code cylinder pocket on upper left arm, rectangular pocket with a flap closure on upper right arm, and thigh pockets (upper set required, lower set optional). No visible zippers or snaps.

Mid-calf black boots (Jack boots or engineer boots are acceptable. No lace up boots. High-Calf boots are acceptable with sufficient blousing of the flighsuit legs.)

Silver/grey leg flares in an olive drab or black leg-band holder.

Light grey/silver grey ejection harness and web belt, all 2” wide.

Accurate white flak vest with ribbing

Accurately sized grey chest box with accurate decoration (buttons, rocker switches, pin stripes etc.). Grey hose or aviation hose should attach at the bottom of the chest box and connect to the flightsuit.

Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket. Two minimum, three maximum.

Black gauntlet-style gloves.

Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:
X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
Mini-flares on belt
Accurate belt buckle on web belt
Comm pad visible inside comm pad pocket on lower left arm

Helmet Decals:
Richie's Armor is doing decals again, each set includes:

2 of red, blue and yellow birds
2 of the comets [circles with lines through them, worn on the mohawk or on each side.]
8 each of the red and yellow V's
This is a good basic kit in vinyl and he sells them for $21.00 shipped.

Ejection Strap Harness:

http://echobaserebels.com/reference/xwingcostume/straps.php

Current strapping needs:

The 1" for the mini-flares...I am guessing everyone will need about a yard and 1/2 - (to be on the safe side)....
so - rounded - 6 yards (18 feet) of 1" Silver Gray for all 3 of us...

Crix...for your belt...figure 1 1/2 yards of 2" Silver Gray
For my belt and ejection harness - probably 7 yards of 2" Silver Gray
so...again rounded...
10 yards (30 feet) of Silver Gray 2" strapping for me and Crix..

Are they just about the same price as ordering the strapping?

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

somehow...that seems large....

Tell you what....
You need to come by and drop off the flightsuits anyway for the addition of the second set of pockets...
why don't you bring your boots along..
I noticed that you are a tentative for Sunday for the Diabetes thing in Orland Park...
if you end up being able to go to that...you can bring your stuff to that as I will be there also...and we can take another measurement...
again..
they will be adjustable...
but I want to try to get a good fit to begin with...and also...for larger/longer flare holders I might also space the flares with more of a gap so that they flares don't look "sqeezed" into the front part of the holder....

If you want, that's fine. I don't know if I can get time to drop by this week anyways as I just got sacked with a deadline so I'll be working late a lot for the next two weeks or so.

I SHOULD be at the Ron Santo walk because I really want to go, but I have a bachelor's party the night before out in Lombard...

I sketched up my idea while installing updates on the new computer I'm setting up at work.

Like I said on the other forums, I want to represent all the different alliance fighters instead of just X-wings like most of the other squadron logos do.

cool....all GREAT ideas...
love to see ideas...

Well..
not that you guys can vote...lol...
but I put up two logos that Tony Perez did for the Renegades...
and one of them is this one...
utilizing the Smuggler's Moon theme..
it might be a nutty idea to incorporate that theme in our logos...
dunno...
I don't think any Base has done that yet...
The blue is obviously the color of the RFT...

I thought for Pilots....orange...and an X-Wing zooming from the moon??
