The people running this con would like a big Star Wars showing.

They have offered fan table space as well.

Is the RL interested?
Can someone forward this to the Jedi Assembly?

Thanks Chris,

I just got an e-mail about this today. I will be placing what information I got on our boards when I get home and also forward the e-mail to Xana the leader of the jedi assembly.

We're coming up for Saturday. I'm going to bring a star wars costume this time Laughing Haven't decided which yet, though.

There are many; however, only a few that allow free tables to fan groups.

Conventions that allow tables and costumers

GMX is the newest Nashville
Connooga in Chattanooga; which is February 19-21
Adventurecon Knoxville June 11-13, 2010
Grand Adventurecon Pegion Forge (First Year)

Not sure about

MTAC eventhough many of our members attend this avent i is mainly for teens. April 30, 2010 - May 2, 2010

Gamecon in Memphis September 25-27, 2009 (Gamers Convention)

National Storytelling Festival Jonesboro, TN October 2 - October 4, 2010

Chattacon January 22-24, 2010 Chattanooga TN This is more of a Literary Convetnion. However, they do sometimes bring in Star Wars Authors. Three years ago they had Kevin James Anderson. We had a few mebers came dressed up. However, Chattacon is more subduded in other areas.

Cons there is no room for fan tables at or have a limit of people that can attend.

Fantascicon East Ridge TN March 19-21, 2010
Hallowcon East Ridge, TN October 31 - November 1, 2009
Libertycon July 9 - 11, 2010 East Ridge, TN

This is not one. I have been to this Festival. You go from tent to tent and hear Storytellers. It just about take up the whole downtown Jonesboro. If is about 30 mins away from me.

One of the things I learned when I was the CO of the USS Federation of Starfleet: You can be the talk of any convention when in a group and in uniform. If people see you as a group and having a good time they will be drawn to you. When someone approaches, hand them a business card and engage in conversaton. The name of the game when it comes into bringing in new people is visability. Just because there is not a SW guest should not limit the decision to have a presence at the event.

ANY sci fi/fantasy allows costuming. Wondercon in Louisville is mainly a modelling con but costume are not an issue. MTAC was loaded with costumers, there were 501st members as well as droid builders.

Every con is an opportunity for positive visability, even if it is just walking around looking good with a pocket full of business cards.

This is how I took a group of 6 bedraggeld members to a crew of more than 60 within 2 years.

Several of us went to MTAC this year, but a lot of the 501st presence (this year) was due to being part of the GMX announcement.

Of course, I'm partial to ConNooga. Wink (have I mentioned that the RL will always have a table there if wanted).

FYI when I just checked out Chattocon's site they're listing Timothy Zahn for 2010

What does MTAC stand for/what kind of con is it?

MTAC = Middle Tennessee Anime Con

If you like anime, it's a great con. Very well attended and loads of costumers, panels, etc...

It was fun. If you do go make sure to get tix early. My family went to daytrip Saturday and couldnt get a one day pass due to the show being sold out (fire marshall cap). So we just ran around some of the exhibitors and still had a lot of fun. Great con to go people watch.
