WHAT: Sacramento Walk Now for Autism Speaks

WHEN: Sunday, October 4th

TIME: 10 am to 1 pm (please arrive an hour early to change)

WHERE: Raley Field
400 Ball Park Drive, West Sacramento

COSTUMES: Any character will be fine - the requester would love to have Chewbacca or a droid attend. No weapons please, including lightsabers.

SECURE CHANGING AREA: Yes

RESPOND BY: Saturday, September 26th

Endor Base has been invited to participate in the Sacramento Walk Now for Autism Speaks. This will be a joint event with the Central California Garrison which will be forming a walking team. You won't need to register individually, but you may want to collect donations for the team.

Comments from requester: Individuals and families affected by autism will be walking to raise money for research, increase autism awareness and get information about autism related services. The walk route will be approximately 2 1/2 miles. There is a resource fair featuring vendors of autism services. There will be other costumed characters, face painting, bounce houses and entertainment on the stage.

Many of our walk participants are children and young adults who are Star Wars fans. We were joined by some members of the 501st Legion for our inaugural Sacramento walk last year. They were extremely well-received, and the highlight of the day for many participants. We'd love to add some of "the good guys" to our fun this year.

I did this walk last year. A total blast, the kids were tremendous and soooo into having us there.

I signed up, but have no idea what costume I'll be sporting that day. Will probably depend on how the mix of Imperial to Rebel pans out :-)

I have registered a joint Central California Garrison and Endor Base walking team for this event. The name for our team is (drum roll...) Central California Garrison/Endor Base Rolling Eyes

For those of you who are interested in participating in this event, please go to the Walk Now for Autism Speaks website and register yourself as a team member. After you've done this, you may collect donations from friends, family, and co-workers if you'd like.

People can donate by taking the following steps:
1) Go to the Walk Now for Autism Sacramento Homepage http://www.walknowforautism.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=304871

2) Click on the "Donate" tab and select "Support a Walker".

3) Enter the name Eugene Shim and hit enter. The donation link for the Central California Garrison/Endor Base team will appear below. Follow this link to make the donation.

The donation goal set for our team is $250. Sounds do-able.

The donation link is under my name since I registered the team, but it does tie into our walking team.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
