Copied from the Mission's Forum

A big thank you to everyone who came out to troop this event. Special thanks go out to the following: Bryan, Dan, Samantha, and Andy for coming up I-95 from Maryland on Labor Day weekend. Paul Sorton of Garrison Carida for being Vader. Russ for manning the table while I was running around without a head.

Type of Function

Wilmington Blue Rocks Baseball Game: Fans’ Choice Night- Star Wars.

Saturday, September 5, 2009
Frawley Stadium
801 Shipyard Drive
Wilmington, DE 19801

Role at the Function

We provided a team line-up introduction with theme score for the respected “sides.” Following the intro we proceeded to the concourse to the tables set aside for us, and stationed there where we handed out swag, posed for pictures, and signed autographs. During the game a few members participated in in-between inning promotional skits and others walked around the concourse.

Members Attended

1. Russ: X-Wing Pilot
2. Tim L.: RFT
3. Bryan (Terrapin): Jedi
4. Paul S. (Carida): Vader
5. Joe (Carida): Boba Fett
6. Tim W. (Carida): TK
7. Dan (Old Line): TK
8. Paul (Carida): TI
9. Samantha: Spotter
10. Andy (Dan’s son): spotter
11. Matt (Tim W.’s son): Jawa

This was the first time for both the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion to make an appearance at the stadium, and the event went great. The number of members at the game were awesome, and gave the crowd many opportunities for pictures and autographs. The group made such a great impression at the game that we were asked to come back next season. Plus many activity books and temporary tattoos were given away and the group recruitment sign-up picked up two possible new members( one Hoth Rebel Trooper and one TK.)

There wasn’t any big situations that came up during the event; just a few minor ones. First, the table placement. There were two tables assigned to the group, the issue was where the tables were (one of the food courts) now there were many people, but the tables were separated by the condiment kiosk. Not a very nice place to put costumers who put hours into their costumes. Second, the game had many other themes for the night: Bobble-Head, German Heritage, Air Force, fireworks, etc. A lot going on and very crowded.

Watching a RFT herd a big bug on the field and a giant Pop-Corn use the dark side of the Force having Vader, Fett, and a TK mow down a giant hot dog, peanut, and traffic cone to win a race-truly ugly.
