Fellow troopers,

My Endor Rebel Trooper costume has two variations:

With backpack:

With overcoat:

I like the overcoat but it tends to cover up a lot of the costume (belt, bandolier, vest with rank badges, wrist communicator) so I don't wear it much.

My question is - can I wear the back pack and/or bandolier over the coat? Was that combination ever used in the movie? I don't think it is canon.

Thanks!

I don't believe the Trench coat version is supposed to have the vest too, just the long sleeved shirt.

That is a great looking costume!

(edited, as I see you do have an approved ERT)

On to your questions:

Looking back at the MOTM pic, I think you're proposing exactly that. It has a backpack, bandolier on the outside, and a rank badge/greeblie on the chest.

Looking at the Costume Standards for this, I think there is some flexibility to how you mix & match.

Plus, in this screencap, you do see a trenchcoat with a backpack. I can't tell if he has a bandolier:

So here is the checklist I would run through if I were approving this costume:

Required Items:

Cargo style pants spray painted in a camouflage pattern. --check!
A beige or gray long sleeve t-shirt --check!
Desert style combat boots (Israeli Army boot recommended) --check!
Olive Drab Green or Beige spats covering top of boots to top of calf. --check!
Beige vest with cap-style sleeves or camouflage trenchcoat/labcoat --check! --you have both!!!
Helmet consisting of an AN-H-15 cloth helmet (or replica) with a ribbed strip on the top, a replica rigid outer ring, and cloth bill --check! (I would probably want a close up-look at this, just to double-check my question from above, but I am 99% sure you're OK
Olive Drab Belt with pouches --check!
Short, light-colored leather work gloves --check!

Formal Requirements - choose one:
(Unless local laws prohibit or strongly discourage carrying anything that looks like a firearm)
blaster
Endor rifle --check!

So at minimum, you have all of the required items, and they look GOOD.

Optional Items:

Web bandolier with replica accessories --possible check! --I think so, I can't see it in great detail in these 2 pics
Canvas military-style backpack--check!
Poncho camouflage painted (not needed, you have the vest and the coat)
Hooded jacket camouflage painted (not needed, you have the vest and the coat)
Vest accessories --check!

So here is my take in a nutshell:

You've done an outstanding job of getting all of the pieces-parts as required, and made them look GOOD. The ERT has some flexibility in that there was no SINGLE version of ERT. They were a mix & match lot of special forces guys. What you are proposing makes total sense to me as you are using the components seen on screen, and I think you've done a great job.

Well done! And thanks for reminding me just how much I want to get this costume done for myself... Bang Head Bang Head whistling

I've got the vest and the hooded jacket, so I can do 3 of the 4 versions. When it's warm, I'll wear just the vest, when it's cool enough, I'll wear the jacket and vest. I've never done just the jacket version.

I was at an Event last Friday night and a kid was asking me about my blaster rifle. He wanted to know if the fore grip part was a grenade launcher, because it looked like one.

I said, "I don't think so, otherwise, we probably would have seen them used in the movie. But if these are actually supposed to be grenades on my bandolier, then they look like they'd fit in a grenade launcher, don't they? Hmm."

Great job on the costume --and great pics! But your photographer really needs to clean the sensor (if it's a DSLR) or clean the lens. (My first camera had a problem with the sensor getting dirty. 2nd camera --not so much.)

Actually, I have to say --that is a great costume. The weathering, details, all of it is really good. And in the "surrender" pose, the camo really shows it's effectiveness.

If you ever care to show a WIP of how you did it, and what you used, or even more detail pics of the costume, it would be a great resource!

I'd love to show you my WIP pics, but I bought a completed costume from someone else that fit me with very little modification. whistling Sometimes you just get lucky.

Here are some more pics highligting parts of the costume:

Rifle:

Spats/Boots/Pants

Vest Weathering

Just for fun:

lol....hey...if ya get "lucky" ...there is no shame in jumping in....lol..

I agree...just about any mix and match works really...

For the most part...
I think they just had all of the extras "grab" costume pieces the day of the shoot....what they ended up with was a real mixed bag...
Laughing

The only clothing piece I am missing is the long coat...
I mix and match pieces too depending on the weather...

if it is too hot...I just go with the vest and the shirt..
if it is cooler...I add the camo "hoodie"...
