Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Costumebase version of the Rebel Fleet Trooper costume. Does it meet RL standards?

The Costume Base costume meets the basic requirements of the RFT. However some of their other products (Endor Trooper) are not accepted. You would need to get the helmet, belt, and boots to complete the Costume Base RFT outfit.

The pockets on the vest match the description in the Studio Creations RFT Tutorial (link to this tutorial in the RFT standards).

i like the CB RFT... that's what i have. not that i've ever sent in pics Smile

my only complaint is that the snaps on the shirt are loosely hand sewn, and need reinforcement. but overall, for the price it can't be beat. make sure to negotiate down on the price. i think i paid $65 with shipping for the shirt, pants and vest. we ordered 11 sets though, so there was some good discounting going on there too.

that's the biggest advantage to them in my eyes... large numbers of matching troopers.

Thanks for the feedback. FYI it sells for $55.90 on their webstore (www.utopiabase.com) plus shipping.

I've gotten a few items from CB, but the RFT is one of the easiest costumes to make, so I'm doing that...just need to pony up for the helmet.

The RFT is extremely easy to sew and get pieces for. That's why we have the "Where to Get Rebel Fleet Trooper Items" thread at the top of this forum. Smile

has anyone that received the costumebase RFT had issues with the pants or shirt?

It looks like it would cost around $60 to buy all the pieces. Then maybe another $20 plus labor to assemble the shirt, vest, and pants.

For $55 shipped, it might be easier to purchase from costumebase, I just want to make sure it fits.

If you are applying to Sunrider Base (which I'm guessing from the UCLA part of your username), then I make the offer to do all the sewing modifications for FREE to prospective members.

This ensures that you will look the same as the rest of our Troopers.

You can also register on Sunrider's Project Board and get to know the rest of the base.

Actually, I am in Chicago now and will be for the next 3 years till I finish dental school.

I went to UCLA for undergrad. UCLAJediMaster is my name on theforce.net. I figured I'd keep it for all star wars boards for continuity sake.

Is it me, or does the costumebase shirt look awfully blue?

To me, it looks way too blue.

At minimum, it should be lightened. I believe there are some posts about some type of RIT color remover stuff, but I've never used it.

This is the proper color of a navy surplus utility shirt (or from the dungarees):

this is the photo of the shirt pockets as I removed the color from a bunch of shirts with Rit Color Remover...

At the bottom was the original color..

and..
each pocket going up represents 15 minutes in the color remover...

the very top photo is the cuff of the shirt...it is actually a little too light..

but the pocket at the top under the cuff is about right..
but ..
again...
you can't REALLY tell by looking at a photo...

I know that some have used the Dickies Work shirt...
and...
I have seen them in person...

In my opinion...I feel that they are a bit too dark...
They are darker than what Delta Squad wears...
