The Rebel pilot standards have been revised to clarify some items listed in the previous version of the standards. It is recommended that you take a moment to review the new standards and compare to your current costume. If changes need to be made to your costume, we ask that you make them at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. For your review, the updated standards can be found below.

Rebel Pilot Costume Standards
X-Wing pilot (Episode IV; VI), Y-Wing pilot (Episode IV)
Required Items:

  1. Orange flightsuit with mandarin-style collar and pointed tab, code cylinder pocket on upper left arm, rectangular pocket with a flap closure on upper right arm, and thigh pockets (upper set required, lower set optional). No visible zippers or snaps.
  2. Mid-calf black boots (Jack boots or engineer boots are acceptable. No lace up boots. High-Calf boots are acceptable with sufficient blousing of the flighsuit legs.)
  3. Silver/grey leg flares in an olive drab or black leg-band holder.
  4. Light grey/silver grey ejection harness and web belt, all 2” wide.
  5. Accurate white flak vest with ribbing
  6. Accurately sized grey chest box with accurate decoration (buttons, rocker switches, pin stripes etc.). Grey hose or aviation hose should attach at the bottom of the chest box and connect to the flightsuit.
  7. Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket. Two minimum, three maximum.
  8. Black gauntlet-style gloves.

Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

  1. X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  2. Mini-flares on belt
  3. Accurate belt buckle on web belt
  4. Comm pad visible inside comm pad pocket on lower left arm

Snowspeeder pilot (Episode V)
Required Items:

  1. Orange flightsuit conforming to the standards for the X-Wing pilot (Episode IV, VI)
  2. Orange flight jacket with padded collar and ribbed strips down both arms.
  3. Grey Hoth-style boots with strapping or mid-calf black boots (If using the black boots, jack boots or engineer boots are acceptable. No lace up boots. High-calf boots are acceptable with sufficient blousing of the flighsuit legs.)
  4. Silver/grey leg flares in an olive drab or black leg-band holder.
  5. Light grey/silver grey ejection harness and web belt, all 2” wide.
  6. Accurate white flak vest with ribbing
  7. Accurately sized grey chest box with grey hose or aviation hose and accurate decoration (buttons, rocker switches, pin stripes etc.)
  8. White and grey gauntlet-style gloves


Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

  1. X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  2. White or grey balaclava or tan, cloth-covered, ANH-15 style helmet, no brim
  3. Comm pad on left gauntlet above wrist

Y-Wing pilot (Episode VI)
Required Items:

  1. Grey flightsuit with mandarin-style collar (with pointed tab), correct arm pockets (code cylinder pocket on upper left arm, rectangular pocket with a flap closure on upper right arm), and thigh pockets (upper set required, lower set optional). No visible zippers or snaps.
  2. Tan mid-calf spats with a single strap over black boots. (No lace up boots.)
  3. White ejection harness (legs split at waist) and white or grey/silver grey web belt, all 2” wide.
  4. Accurately styled grey/beige flak vest with appropriate chest ribbing, shoulder ribbing and shoulder buckles.
  5. Small black and grey rectangular chest box on the upper chest.
  6. White oval belly box/tube with black strap and white cloth-covered hose attached at two points (either belly tube to flak vest, belly tube to flightsuit, or flak vest to flightsuit).
  7. Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket. Two minimum, three maximum.
  8. Black gauntlet-style Gloves.


Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

  1. Y-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  2. Mini-flares on web belt
  3. Comm pad visible inside comm pad pocket on lower left arm
  4. Accurate buckle on web belt

A-WING PILOT (Episode VI ROTJ)
Required Items:

  1. Green flightsuit with mandarin-style collar (with squared tab), correct arm pockets (code cylinder pocket on upper left arm, rectangular pocket with a flap closure on upper right arm), and thigh pockets (upper set required, lower set optional). No visible zippers or snaps.
  2. Tan mid-calf spats with a single strap over black boots. (No lace up boots.)
  3. White ejection harness (legs split at waist) and web belt, all 2” wide.
  4. Accurate charcoal grey flak vest with white front section (with appropriate ribbing – one above chestbox, 2 below) and white side strapping.
  5. Accurately styled black upper chest box with accurate details and black straps.
  6. White lower chest box (hard or soft) with white cloth-covered hose attaching to flightsuit.
  7. Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket. Two minimum, three maximum
  8. Black gauntlet-style gloves


Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

  1. X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  2. Y-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  3. Cloth tan AN-H-15 flight helmet (or replica)
  4. A-Wing hard helmet with Star Wars-style decoration (generally used with AN-H-15 cloth flight helmet)
  5. Mini-flares on web belt
  6. Comm pad visible inside comm pad pocket on lower left arm

B-WING PILOT (Episode VI ROTJ)
Required Items:

  1. Red flightsuit with open collar, correct arm pockets (code cylinder pocket on upper left arm, rectangular pocket with a flap closure on upper right arm), and thigh pockets (upper set required, lower set optional). No visible zippers or snaps.
  2. Tan mid-calf spats with a single strap over black boots. (No lace up boots.)
  3. White ejection harness (legs split at waist) and web belt, all 2” wide.
  4. Scoop-necked black or dark grey flak vest with two ribs above chest box, black shoulder buckles, and white side strapping.
  5. Accurately sized silver/white/light grey chest box with with accurate decoration (buttons, knobs, pieces etc.) and white cloth-covered hose attached from box to back of flak vest. Black shoulder straps attach it to flak vest.
  6. Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket. Two minimum, three maximum
  7. Black gauntlet-style gloves


Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

  1. X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  2. Y-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
  3. Cloth tan AN-H-15 flight helmet (or replica)
  4. B-Wing hard helmet with Star Wars-style decoration
  5. Mini-flares on web belt
  6. Comm pad visible inside comm pad pocket on lower left arm

Note: For some events you may be required to have the correct helmet for your costume.
Specific Face Character pilots: Replicas of specific face characters (Wedge Antilles, for example) must have the correct helmet paint job.
