*lol*

I don't mind & I'm certainly NOT arguing that people be not alowed to carry one Wink

I'm just having a friendly debate on whether Jedi "should" carry blasters or not, there is evidence that they did & that's the bottom line really Very Happy

Bill is right in what he said...Tenel Ka did lose most of her forearm in a lightsaber training exercise to Jacen hence why Jedi use a lower setting for practice Wink

& probably most of the Jedi who do carry blasters carry it for the aforementioned reasons like Corran's Corsec background & Mara Jade's background originally also they just feel comfortable with one.

But for me it's like someone one said "Blasters are so uncivilized" Razz

j/k
Wink

Yea but it should would have been handy if he had one of his own...seeing as how he disarmed himself by dropping his saber "This weapon is your life". Good with the force is one thing, but dodging blaster bolts without your trusty saber is something totally different. I see the logic in your argument, I do b/c not only do I like the Jedi order but I also believe in the Bushido code ( Jedi code is extremely close). The Samurai would not use firearms to keep their honor...it ended up being their ultimate down fall, much like the old republic Jedi.

Haha! I couldn't help but think that both times I've heard that quote in a movie, it was the last thing the guy said before he was killed by said knife *snickers*

The Punisher I think it was. Evil or Very Mad

I just think it's off to have a Jedi with a blaster....if they spent all those years traing with a saber and then not use it by whipping out a blaster and blowing a nice hole through somebody.

Sean Connery also said that in the "Untouchables" about a knife to
a gunfight...I must agree with Master Skywalker and Downtown...with
rare exceptions...(i.e Mara Jade)...its just not right for a jedi to carry a
blaster...Jedi have two things going for them:

1. a lightsaber
2. The Force
they can do just as much if not more damage with either of these
just my two creds.

The Force fights WITH me!!!

Yeah some face characters use em but for a basic Jedi I would say no. Maybe a new Republic one since Jedi seem to be ANY age in the NR

An additional factor to consider in the NR era is that it may not be in the best interest of the Jedi to be identifiable as such. A lightsaber that is the only weapon availiable/visible may be as much liability as a deterrent in a cantina full of Peace Brigaders... NR Jedi face a reality that may cause some of the old traditions to fall by the wayside in the interest of survival, and mission.

I might have missing this one in the last three pages, but what about the Skiff guard blaster from ROTJ?

I know Luke took it from one of the guards, but the orignal Endor Action Figure looked really cool with the blaster, holster, and the lightsaber. Though probably not a good reference.

Just my two cents... continue. Smile
