I noticed that on officer belts and RFT's there looks to be a snap near the buckle or a round button.

Does anybody have any good pics of which side it's on or pics of the belt?

When I read the title of this thread, I thought, "huh? There's no greeblie on the belt." A greeblie is more of a decoration that serves no practical purpose.

In this case, since it is a snap, it holds the belt loop closed where the buckle goes, so it does serve a purpose.

It is on the left side, if you watch the scenes on the Tantive IV closely.

Unfortunately, the only pic I have only shows which side it's not on. If only the belt the guy on the left is wearing wasn't turned to the side, you could see it perfectly.

You can see that I put the snap on my own belt.

I got my belt through Tandy and dyed it myself. Now near the buckle, thee are already 2 small snaps that hold the buckle on the belt.

Do I take the 2 small snaps off and replace them or just add an extra one for cosmetic appearance?

Oh, you used the belt blank. I always use the plain straps.

I don't know what to tell you about that. Those blanks are for a different type of buckle, too. If it's long enough, you could cut off that end.

What's the width of that belt? We use 2" belts for most of the belts on trooper and Pilot rigs.

My belt is 2 inches wide. As you can see in the pic the 2 snaps that hold the buckle on the belt. Should I take 1 of the snaps off and replace it with a silver snap or just put the snap next to the other 2?

If you have enough "belt" just cut the piece of blank with the two snaps off.
that is a belt that I had put up on the Yahoo Group in the event that people didn't have snap setting tools....most folks don't have leatherworking tools...

If you don't have enough "belt" then just remove the two snaps and use the one single aluminum snap...

If you go into the complete costume tutorial at the Yahoo Group..
...the information and photos on the belt is there..

Very Happy

Tandy snaps are actually nickel plated brass. Wink

Get the larger Line 24 snaps. Then you need the right setting tool and anvil for that.

I have a good bit of the snap kits from Tandy....Always good to have the around when you wear armor. Wink

I was actually able to get the small snap further away from the buckle out and replace it with a larger silver snap. I looks alot better now that it's done.
