Pretty much title says it all.
Since I pretty much despise the cold and don't like to go out when it's cold, I thought I'd try my hand at making a holster but need a template or measurements.

Anybody able to help me out????

There are different designs for holsters out there. There doesn't seem to be a "definitive" design that people use.

It's not that hard to design your own. All you need is a large piece of paper that you can fold over the blaster that will leave extra with at the seam side, and you can decide how wide you want it, and if you want the trigger exposed, or covered, if you want 2 thin belts loops or one wide one.

If you design it for yourself, you can be happier with it.

Here's a couple simple designs that you've probably seen before:

I did my own design which was closer to what we see in ANH:

Thanks Lori! Very Happy

I had some extra brown pleather sitting around and didn't want it to go to waste.

You think you could send me your width measurement on your holster so I somewhat get it right?

**EDIT**
Could you also get me the length from top of the belt loop to the bottom?

Here's a small tutorial I put on our local Fan Force Board with pics of a little different style holster I did (currently the last post in the thread)

Like Lori said it's probably best to just take some paper and your blaster and play with it to make sure you get the best fit. But to give you a starting point for my holster (follow the link above) the large piece of leather is about 5&1/2 inches wide and 17 inches long. The smaller piece is 7&1/2 inches wide and 6&1/2 inches at the highest point. My holster is a little wide. It will just fit inbetween belt loops (depending on the pants) but it will be tight. For a more comfortable fit just take out a belt loop or wear the belt and holster outside the loops gunslinger style.

i didn't measure for mine either... i just used the blaster as a reference. personally i wouldn't go off of someone else's numbers, unless it's measured off the original. if you do that, you're just taking one person's inaccuracy and adding your own to it Wink

I think i still have my pdf pattern for the nerf blaster on file. I did a few tweeks after the pattern was made, but it still works out pretty well. it's done for a very light weight leather. If you are interested, send me a PM Smile

PM sent!

I sketched out my own pattern and used it on some brown pleather. I'm going to sew it up this evening and see how it works out.

Getting some dye in a few hours and I will take some progress pictures.

Could you put into a Word document...
or PDF?

I would like to post it at the Tantive Yahoo Group...

Or would you mind if I tried to paste it from the FF boards?

Thanks I'm flattered. Sure cut and paste away just keep my name on it Smile I would be happy if someone finds it helpful. If cut and paste doesn't work I could clean it up/edit it and send it to you as a word document but I don't know how to do PDFs.

I didn't know there was a RFT Yahoo Group. Is it okay if I check it out?

A Word document would be fine...
I can convert it into a PDF..
I would rather you do it...
because sometimes when I do one of these tutorials....as I am editing..
I find I want to change some things..

If you do the word document..it will give you a last opportunity to make sure that it reads the way you want it to...

The RFT Yahoo group is here: you do need to join to be able to view everything...but it is tutorials, links, photos of our RFT's...and anything that folks want to post.
