I was thinking about putting together a kit with a custom belt and armor kit for anyone wanting to do a Han or Luke post garbage masher costume.

The belts are sewn to have fringe similar to that seen on screen. Made you your length. I offer it in white and natural color.

The armor is screen accurate. Not from an FX kit. The belt has the 3 snap covers and belt boxes are 2 pieces each. Detonator not required but I can include it.

Hand and Luke

Not 100% sure on everything but here is what I know.

In full armor:
Han has Detonator till he jumps down trash compactor shoot... looses it in jump. He has it on in detention center... not in compactor. 100% sure

Luke I think has something like a box.. nbot sure of detonator. 50% sure

Post trash compactor ( belt only ):

Han has belt NO detonator! 100% sure
Luke has belt, no detonator 75% sure, no box either... 50% sure

I will double check tonight by forcing myself to watch the movie...lol

If my wife had it her way, the movie trilogy would be on a permanant loop in our house I think.

Luke's belt has the small "box" on the back which houses the grappling hook (good thing he got that belt!!).

If you look very closely when the two stormtroopers go up into the Falcon and Han and Luke shoot them and take their armor, the one trooper on the left side has the grappling hook on the back of his belt. I think he's the only one known to have this...lucky, eh? Wink

May want to do some homework on this as well. I am pretty sure ABS is 360 around the belt. Not sure you can get away with having only the front like that.
Cloth makes horible armor.. Rolling Eyes

Stole these pics last night ( or my wife did I should say ). Let me know what you think. Smile

In this picture it shows the closure in the back and the Sharpe edges. IMO this is either a 8-10 oz leather or ABS/ weatherstripping. I persoannaly think its more than likely leather. There is a scene where Luke and Han are getting out of the armor and putting the Utility belts back on, and if you freeze frame it, you can see Mark actually putting the belt on. He did it with ease, and from that alone makes me really believe that it is not fabric in the back.

In this picture you can see the snap closures for the holster. There is no fabric that would hold up to a holster and look that clean... let alone snaps and the weight of a blaster in it. I am really thinking its an abs or leather from this pick as well.

Love some feedback from you guys.Let me know what you think.

My impression of the back of the belt is that it was white leather....

I would think white leather with velcro. you can see indentations in the belt where those snaps attach. if it was cloth I don't think we'd see those indentations.

-=====-

also in the second pic those "snaps" look like the tell-tale rivets used to hold the saber-hook on luke's belt.

they even appear to be holding something, which pokes out the bottom of the white belt like saber-hooks.

(ie: you can see something protruding from the bottom of the white belt, in line with both sets of rivets)

my guess, those 'snaps' are actually rivets holding strips of metal on the backside of the belt, which poke out the bottom and form little 'hooks', on which the holster hangs. just like the saber-hook on luke's belt.

(my analysis leans towards white leather) Razz [/$0.02]

looks like the holster is hangin from 2 hooks on the bottom edge of the belt, like I suspected. Cool

those 'snaps/rivets' on hans belt (above) are definitely holding the hooks.

--> those could be included as a feature Wink

I read in a thread on another forum that the Canvas belts were painted with some kind of while polish or something to make them really white and shiny, to match the shiny plastic. After being in the water during shooting for the Trash scene, the stuff started to come off and the Canvas went back to its off white color looking more dingy. It does not look like it did before that seen anyway. My feeing is that using the straight Canvas is fine for Deathstar Escape Han and Luke. It always looked like canvas to me. As for the Holsters being clipped on instead of actually being riveted, that is a good observation. I never noticed that before.

I have the Canvas already, I just need the Plastic parts for mine. I have one, but it was riveted on the ends and attached to elastic. It has the hole covers already attached to make it look like snaps were used, I am not sure I could convert this one with snaps the right way.
