I'm finishing up a Pilot Dress Uniform. Is there a standard somewhere for the rank bars? I know they change from comic to comic, but have they been standardized for the Legion?

Ashley Byram said here:

http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11269&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

that Ed Cook was getting a "a general's rank badge". Is there someplace I can find a reference for these?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The best I have found is on TheForce.net. It's halfway down the page. It is the typical dots on a gray background much like the imps are squares on a gray background.

To make a screen-accurate badge (not the dress uniform badge), the pips can be made of lightbulb "lens covers", EAO series 01. These look just like the real thing.
But maybe you need smaller pips for the dress uniform?

Shadowdale is not someone you would want to be dealing with. As reported over in the Costuming and Props section of tfn, this is not a reputable company to be dealing with.

Besides, those are the wrong style of rank badge if you are doing the pilot's dress uniform.

The rank badge isn't like the typical rank badges we see on the Rebel officers throughout the OT. The pilots have their own rank badges to suit the dress uniform.

It is basically a gold colored vertical rectangle that had the Rebel crest on the top and some round pips on the bottom.

Here is an illustration of what I am referring to.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/2/2e/TychoCelchu.jpg/200px-TychoCelchu.jpg&imgrefurl=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tycho_Celchu&h=282&w=200&sz=12&hl=en&start=6&sig2=X62yTK7RYPVz1b9oeX0KUQ&um=1&usg=__Vs569X4lbyA_2BdCkTqqh0j7KuY=&tbnid=QyoAZfDTL_SdaM:&tbnh=114&tbnw=81&ei=DU28SKjUF5zYsAOJ--DcAw&prev=/images%3Fq%3DTycho%2BCelchu%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADBS_enUS261US261

Also, look in the RL Pilots section, there a couple of people who have done this costume. Take a close look at how they did the rank badge. It may help.

I've seen references where the crest is on top and the rank is on bottom, but what Ed has looks right on to what I am talking about!

Unfortunately, there is no specific description of the rank badge, except in the comics, and with more than one artist. So it depends on which artist's conception you want to go with. I made Ed's, my wife's and mine from one of them.
After I remake my die, I can make more with any rank.

Seeing as how Rick has made more of these than anyone else I know, I would recommend that we go with the configuration that he used, just for uniformity.

I am not opposed to that idea, Ed. I like Rick's work and since I will be doing this costume, as well, I will be happy to go through Rick to get the rank badge.

Awesome work, Rick!

Thanks, Bill. I appreciate that. When I'm all set, I'll post here with pics of the different ranks.

That is nice work. It is more or less what I figured, I just wanted it to be as uniform as possible. Thank you so much.

If we're talking ranks, here's Hazard Squadron's (Merit Based) Rank Structure:

Flight Cadet (newbee)
Flight Officer
Lieutenant
Captain
Major - default SXO rank
Commander - default SCO rank (Squadrons top out here)

and then we assumed higher ups would be...

Colonel (what former DCO was)
General (now what current DCO is)
Admiral (big daddy Ackbar or whoever)

All these ranks were gleened from a multitude of sources; movies, books, comics, internet. There never seemed to be a concrete "yes this is it" list.
