Hello, all. Just got done with my first Jedi costume today and figured I'd post up some pics real quick and see if there are any simple things to do to make it better.

I went with green for the main color because: a) I haven't seen any green Jedi yet and thought it would be fun; b) The color actually fits the back story I'm working on. The black just seemed cool to go with the green...and I gots lotsa black materials laying around Smile .

The light saber is my first try with TCSS's modular system and it is done in silver and green with a green blade (though it didn't show up at all in the pics).

Still want to do a better belt (wearing one of those off e-bay) and maybe widen the tabbards back out some. Also want to redo the boot plates on the front (use them to hide the laces...cuz I really like the boots I picked up and they will work for other costumes, too).

Well...here ya go:

I'll probably try and apply for membership as soon as I can decide on a name for the character and get the back story done to my liking.

Lemme know what ya think.

EDIT: lol...just noticed the boy (my son) only pulled the tabbards under the belt and not under the obi in back. Um...just ignore that and use your imaginations Rolling Eyes

Not that I know of. I just finished the last part of her ANH Leia costume yesterday. Gonna post pics of that tomorrow (she was too tired today to get dressed up in it).

We are going to work on her Sith tomorrow, though. Hoping to get it done in the next week or so (along with my weird Sith-like-thingymajig Razz ).

Lookin' good; nice to see it in person! let us know if you need anything.

I'd agree on your idea about widdening the tabbards, and take pics of the saber so we can see. Very Happy

I love that Jedi costume, man. I am pretty much wanting to do the same thing, but I think having the color scheme inverted - for the exception of the trousers and boots. I am wanting a darker green color. I have been playing around with the idea of having green bloodstripes down the pants, but I don't know. I am still on the fence.

I really do love what you have done with it. It looks great!

Green jedi are awesome, most assosiate it with being Corellian thouhg not needed for that. Which is awesome

I like the color scheme, boots and pants are intresting, I would agree on widening the tababrds, if you wanan try making a pattern where they angle at a 45 degree angle or so that will keep them straight in front and cossed above the sash.

Smile

The tabbards are actually in multiple pieces (the top part goes from front to back with no seams and the lower parts are separate and sewn at an angle with the seam hidden by the obi). They turned out a little wide at the shoulders for my taste at first (hung down over the shoulder seam so you couldn't see that tuck in the outer tunic) and when I cut them down to fit the shoulders, the lower parts looked too small. I didn't notice this until the pics were taken (man...I need a floor-length mirror by my sewing area/workshop). Luckily, since I made them in multiple section, I can just rip the seams at the obi and redo the lower parts so not too much work.

The new belt, on the other hand..... Rolling Eyes . Need some more cash to do it right. Might go the pleather and foamie route to get it just right before investing tons of cash into leather and tooling.

On the topic of names and homeworlds, lemme run this by you guys. Needed a forested planet for his home. I found Osaria on line and it gave very little info about it other than it is heavily forested and somewhat unknown. It is also close to Kashyyyk, which helps with part of the back story. I'm thinking of using the name "Dah-Kohm Taurohtar" (the first part is a name I have used before in RPGs and the last is an elven word for ranger). He's going to be more at home (and more powerful) in natural settings like forests and grasslands, but less comfortable (and considerably less confident/powerful) in cities. This made him seem to be a crappy Jedi student when at the temples in cities, but quite a bit better when set out into the wilds as a scout/guerilla warfare specialist.

Any ideas for or comments about this concept?

Oh...here's what the tabbards originally looked like when I tried on the top. I just had my jeans and tac boots on at the time since I was just needing a pic to see how the tops looked together.

The length is still the same (just can't see that in the pics with the black pants on). Thanks for the feedback, guys and gals.

I like the concept,

It fits withthe green theme, you could even add soem smal things like a bead or something to the saber similar to A'shard Hett as a shpw of heritage, perhaps his Master was a Wookie. My Masters Master was story wise.

Stories are always great to see for genric Jedi shows how much people do infact think it's more then a costume its an escape too.

Ilike the conceot idea so far, but yes looking forwards to seeing the tababrds evened out there at the bottom.

If ya want take a look at my home page(it's like 5 pages long but it has a lot of info on my character and other thing)

Nice idea for colors.

All that you need is to make your saber powered by ethanol and a hybrid starfighter made by "to-yoda" then you'll be a true green jedi Laughing

Can't wait to see some pics of this in action at events Cool

Bedlam: this costume is awesome. I am very impressed with it. I love what you have done with it. It is inspiring me to get on the ball and do mine, too. I love what you did with the lightsaber, too. I have a few ideas for a unique lightsaber. But can never seem to make it practical. I like the green rings on your hilt. I hadn't even thought of that. I was going to go with a black and silver theme with mine, but now seeing what you have done with yours, it opens up other avenues. I love this creativity! Your costume rocks, man!

I like everything about this costume. I like the thought being put into doing this costume. I really like the background story as well. It is cool that you were looking for established home worlds for your character.

Personally, I made up my own. In fact, my avatar is the family crest of my character. It tells a unique story in and of itself. I'm thinking that the Jedi heritage will have some Corellian roots to it. I seem to have caught the Corellian bug and I just can't let it go.

Hey Volund... there is nothing wrong with Corellians. They saved the day on many occasions. I didn't see any Alderaanian RFT nerf-herders do that! Mr. Green

Thanks for the compliments, all.

Just got done widening the tabbards (well...the "tails" anyway). Forgot that anything going through another line at an angle looks weird if done at the same width. Now, the tails are the same width as at the shoulders (but the tops narrow slightly at the waist... thank the gods for the obi to hide the weird seams).

Ya know, Bill...I was trying for a darker green myself. In fact, the first try at the tunic turned out quite a bit darker (but shrank in the dye just a little too much for my tastes). Ran into a problem dying this one when I could only get hold of 1 pack of Dark Green dye (used 2 on the first try). Since the Calcutta kinda fell apart and had to be re-stitched during the dye run, I didn't feel like giving it another shot. Might do it later, but gonna use it as is for now. By the way...love the Calcutta, but could not for the life of me find it in dark green. Had to use white and dye it.

As far as the saber goes, the green O-rings were kinda a last minute idea. I was going to have a couple parts annodized in green, but the guy that was going to do it flaked out on me. One thing I need to do, though...cut the blade down some. I didn't notice there were different sizes on the order for and it defaults to a 40" one. Even with the super bright Seul LED, it is only bright at the hilt and the tip. I put one of the blades from the MR "Joe Jedi" kits in it and it lit up like a beacon. I'm thinking I'll take off about 6-8 inches and see if that helps. The hilt alone is around 16" with the emitter, but I needed almost all that space for the batteries, sound board, and wiring.

Thanks again, all.

Well...went ahead and sent in my application with the current pictures. I hope to have new ones with some minor upgrades soon (as soon as I can get some decent material for the belt and boot armor, anyway).

Wish me luck Smile
