BIG UPDATE!

I talked with Joe at Phoenix Comicon tonight! Here's what we know so far...

1) The Jedi Training Camp is a go and will be performed in the same concrete area outside the convention like last year.

2) The AZ Rebel Legion is allowed to set up a table and canopy directly next to the Jedi Training Camp outside with all of our fliers and information.

What we have yet to finalize is whether or not the Jedi Training Camp will run both Saturday AND Sunday or for how long each day.

Also, we must pray that it doesn't rain either day. I guess we'll have the canopy but if rains like last year, very few people will be outside. I'm going to stay positive though.

More as it develops!

I'm still waiting to talk to Joe about more details on the camp. I also haven't heard anything yet regarding a costuming panel. I'll post as soon as I know something.

Also, we are going to be in need of more toy lightsabers (the kind with the red button you find next to SW figures at Target or Walmart, etc.). I think we have about 15 right and we almost ran out of sabers for the kids to use at the gamestop event. I know money is tight these days so no pressure. Just help if you can. Smile

Oh and one more thing! I have been doing the Jedi training for a while now at various events. I love doing it but I wouldn't mind at all if we had any other Jedi that would care to take one or two sessions at Con. The Gamestop event on 11/22 would be great practice for you if you're unsure. I'd be happy to give you the low down on how it's done.

I was just at Fry's Marketplace (19th Ave and Glendale) and picked up a green saber and blue saber on sale for $2.75 a piece to add to the collection. They also had three red sabers for the same price, but I didn't pick them up.

VERY COOL UPDATE!!!

Richard LeParmentier, courtesy of Toy Anxiety - portrayed Admiral Motti in the original Star Wars movie. His role as the Imperial Officer who believed more in the power of his Death Star than the power of The Force earned him a memorable place in what has been voted The Film of The Millennium.

When Darth Vader raised his finger and Admiral Motti momentarily lost the ability to breathe movie audiences got their first inkling of the Dark Side.

It has been voted the, "most famous Darth Vader moment in all six films".

With the passing of Peter Cushing and Don Henderson, Richard is the last surviving Imperial officer from the original STAR WARS.

Graduates will be presented with a certificate of completion and gain the respect of Lord Vader's personal elite Stormtrooper Legion.

JEDI TRAINING CAMP UPDATE!

It's official! The Jedi Training Camp at Phoenix Comicon will take place Saturday and Sunday from 11AM-3PM every half hour (or until there are no more kids).

I'm very excited for this! Several Jedi will need to be available for each camp session. I recommend at least three (One to train, two others to help line up kids, pass out/collect sabers.

I am hoping to have some music cues this time around to make it seem a bit more theatrical.

We still need more lightsabers! If you see any on sale or can afford to pick one up, please do so. We have 15 right now.

Also, we need someone to create a Jedi Training Camp Certificate of completion that we can have on hand for all the kids who participate. In the camp, students go from Younglings to Padawans... so something that highlights that.

There is a guy on fleabay selling diplomas for all kinds of sci-fi stuff.
For a jedi padawan one, check out Item number: 360104026313
I'm not suggesting you buy it, but you could use it as a reference to layout your own. (and change it enough so it doesn't resemble his if you choose)

My only concern is having it every half hour...is that enough time to conduct the training camp and give all of us participating a break to reset? I mean thats 8 shows a day....might be a little over saturated. I think 4 shows a day is more than enough.

Very soon I will be putting up the booth volunteer list and a list for the training camp, so everyone who plans on attending please start thinking about when you can volunteer!
